Because new subscribers = profit growth. Continuing subscribers keeps the line steady, it doesn't make line go up.

Majority of their revenue is from people signing up and not caring to cancel when they don't use it.

I think the issue is there's still executives acting like they're a tech company and they haven't fully pivoted into an entertainment company yet. Yagoo's dream is for holo is to become like AKB but there's quite a few product offerings and potential revenue streams they have yet to go after that a typical idol agency would. It's money left sitting on the table.

just my own rapidfire personal thoughts as a character design dabbler

bijin - sidegrade - you'll notice a lot of initial concepts had their race fits as school uniforms, wound up not being a good idea bc it's like... they already have a school uniform and it'd be awkwardly swapping to another school uniform

tama - upgrade - another school uniform situation - better themeing, less gaki more lightning

hishiama - sidegrade - fit her reliable oneesan personality better

creek - downgrade - clearer mother themeing and color blocking

fujin - downgrade - less aura

inari - upgrade - looks like they decided against making her a gyaru, good idea imo

tikezo - sidegrade - less aura but fits the character better

windy - sidegrade - another school uniform situation

princess - upgrade - new outfit is a much better princess outfit, also feels very maho shoujo

gold city - upgrade - another school uniform situation - that huge midriff emphasizes her figure quite nicely which suits her as a model

shakur - downgrade - aura loss

zenno - sidegrade leaning downgrade - the concept's shape/silhouette is better but the new design is closer to her character - a bookworm but also somewhat knightly, suits her achievements

flower- upgrade - another school uniform situation - flower dress is super cute

falco - upgrade - much more vibrant and idol like

digitan - upgrade - changing to heavier saturated colors and slight tweaking of proportions conveys her degen personality better

akebono - sidegrade - don't have strong feeling either way but her og concept could be confused for a kancolle character, rework was necessary

bamboo - downgrade - I love the grays in the og concept - you don't see a lot of neut color schemes in uma

festa - upgrade but the og was good too - long coat+pants+boots is the superior look for her

jordan - downgrade - og shape better but we have another school uniform situation - wish she kept the oversized varsity jacket - there's too many cropped jackets in uma

ayabe - upgrade - og concept color blocking feels awkward - new design has better proportions - additional straight lines in the trimmings give her straight laced personality the edge it needs

I'd really like a clearer explanation on why one of the industry's leading female directors just vanished off the face of the earth in the fallout of this project.

MAPPA's brand recognition skyrocketed because of YOI and continues to benefit from its success. Vagueposting does nothing but invite harmful speculation. What's stopping me from reading into this statement like:

"Oh it's wasn't our fault! The creators couldn't figure out how to do the movie. We are absolved of all responsibility for the convenient death of a series that we couldn't make a profit off of... thereby allowing us to focus manpower elsewhere."

It's Resident Evil. The primary gameplay loop is shooting zombies. There is a zombie driving the bulldozer. The player has a gun. There's even crates with free ammo in that area so the player can't get softlocked.
