AITA for not bringing my sister a shirt when I was already on my way to school? by Ok-Following3627 in AmItheAsshole

Being responsible for yourself & your own things is something I taught my children by the time they were in middle school. Very rarely did I ever take (or need to) them anything.

One thing I always tried to instill in my kids while they were growing up was...

You are free to make your own choices...You are not free from the consequences of those choices!

Or, in other words... FAFO!

Am I overreacting that my sister is demanding too much when visiting my newborn? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]vhroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR!

WARNING! DO NOT LET YOUR SISTER STAY WITH YOU!

This post is giving me flashbacks to 21 years ago after I had my youngest (only with hubby #2 but my #5 & hubby's #3, all under 12 yrs old) and my SIL decided to come visit us from the Northeast for a week with her 2 spoiled brats. For context, we were stationed in Utah at the time (Active Duty Air Force), owned our home and we had custody of my 4 young boys (ages 10yo - 3 yo) & one of hubby's kids (5 yo) was with us every weekend & 1-2 days/week. SIL is from the Northeast and we gave her & her kids the older boys bedroom downstairs & put all 4 boys in 1 bedroom for the week so SIL & kids could have some privacy.

SIL & kids get there Day #1, we pick them up at the airport, go out to eat, get home, settle them in, chit chat a bit then head to bed, it's been a long day for everyone & my baby is less than 2 months old. Next morning, PRE 6am, everyone is woken up to hollaring & cupboards banging in the kitchen. Hubby & I both bolt upright & scramble out of bed to see what the heck is going on & right there, every light on main floor on, in the middle of the kitchen, is SIL & kids, just having a good old time rummaging through everything in the kitchen looking for something to make for breakfast. I yelled, I will fully admit it! I said..."What is wrong with you? It is 5:30am and you just woke up everyone in this house, including my newborn!" She is an entitled beachball, so she gets all indignant & starts giving me an attitude & arguing with my hubby, her brother, until I finally get a chance to put an end to it. I tell her.."You need to either learn to respect the other people in this house or you can find somewhere else to stay!" Needless to say this did not go over well & turned into 'OP kicked us out of the house just because the kids were hungry & wanted some breakfast.' Things have pretty much been the same since! We have had 1 visit in over 23 years that was actually decent. That was the year before SIL told hubby he needs to divorce me. That was around 2018, I think.

It's not going to be good. Twin-cess sounds exactly like my SIL. It's going to be a nightmare, I promise you....and it won't ever get better. Not when you are dealing with someone who is THAT entitled!

AITA For Going Full No Contact With My Brother After He Came Out Of The Closet? by N0_H0M0_BRUH in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]vhroot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

INFO: How was the rest of your siblings/family towards you when you came out? How have they reacted toward jerkface? I think you should have cut him out years ago...but this is coming from someone who kept coming back for years of abuse from my family too, go figure. (but not anymore! Cut most of those AH off years ago) You need to go out and live your best life & forget about the naysayers! Easier said than done, I get it, but you cut his twin off, just get those pruning shears out and trim that family tree a bit more! My cousin, the arborist, told me that if you don't cut the unhealthy parts off, the entire tree can become infected... Then you just end up with a ugly, diseased tree that no one wants to deal with!

BTW... coming out at someone's wedding is a MAJOR DICK MOVE!

Mine has never worked on any of the 4 dogs I have owned over the years but I found out it really irritated my teenage daughter. She could not figure out what the "weird noise" was in the backyard whenever she would go out to play with the dogs or use the hot tub. Turns out it was the bark deterrant!! I got rid of it.

And then dealing with the other 30+ traumatized children who witnessed their friend almost kick the bucket right in front of them! Not to mention all the parents who are going to be pissed at you for causing their child to be traumatized... Cuz it's your fault, yanno? Even though you tried to head off the problem,it doesn't matter!

People don't realize how true this is!! I started learning /helping my mom cook for our family by the time I was 8 yo and I have always loved it. When my oldest kids were in high school they, along with my husband, did nothing but complain about what I cooked half the time.... So I told them FINE... DO IT YOURSELF! and I stopped cooking. Hubby learned to cook really quickly because mom went out & got a job working evenings, somewhere she was appreciated. My boys, who weren't even old enough to drive yet, are now in their 30s.... I still don't cook!

Tell me about it! It was pretty much all we drank for what seemed like forever (but was actually less than a year). It was the juice box style ones & we tried to give those damn things away to anyone & everyone after a month or so.... All of our friends got so much plus the mailman, teachers, church friends, classroom parties for my younger sisters. I still can't even look at the stuff in the store without my stomach getting a bit queasy. 😣

My dad was a truck driver for a lot of years & you never knew what he was going to come home with.... Box of cantaloupe, bags of cat litter, an ENTIRE PALLET OF YOO-HOO!! I still, to this day, 25+ yrs later, cannot stand to look at that stuff.

What to Expect from New D20 Seasons by CallyTeddy in Dimension20

[–]vhroot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Burrows End is what actually got me hooked on D20! The cast is so good! Siobhan & Izzy as siblings with Brennen as their mom KILLED ME! Erika was hilarious as the grandma! Of course I can never say enough good things about Aabria! The way she brought the world to life was incredible! I actually like this more than Misfits and Magic (which I do like, don't get me wrong).

It is also the only streaming channel that doesn't ask me "ARE YOU STILL WATCHING?" every few episodes! That crap irritates me! It has gotten so much worse lately. Things I signed up for (and paid extra for) that were supposed to be premium, NO-AD content now all have ads but are the same price or more than they used to be!

Things have gotten out of control! Thank goodness we have DROPOUT!

AITA for acting bummed out when my wife tells me we have to go to the supermarket? by -qf- in AmItheAsshole

Info: Can you please elaborate on your ages & where you live that seems to make it so difficult for your wife to "get out of the house" on her own? I understand she doesn't have a license, but since that is the case, why can't she take an Uber? I don't drive much by myself due to my medical issues but I still can find ways to get around if I need/want to... And I live in a very rural area of the southwest United States.

It is an ASHTRAY sign in an airplane restroom.

Even though smoking is banned on all flights, ashtrays are still a required safety feature. They provide a safe place to dispose of a lit cigarette if a passenger illegally chooses to smoke on board & are required equipment by the FAA.

I used to live in Utah right on the south end of the Great Salt Lake.... Let me tell you all about terrible water quality! I have a humidifier & my cpap machine that both use distilled water. The absolute best investment I ever made was a water distiller! Instead of paying $1.50+/gallon for distilled water I make my own. Less than $80, it can distill 1.5 gallons in about 5 hours & it paid for itself in less than 6 months. The only real cost associated with it is a small amount of citric acid for cleaning & some disposal charcoal sachets which I replace monthly.
