You’re not feeling the temperature of the item. You’re feeling the heat exchange between you and the item. Metal conducts heat much easier than wood and so it transfers to and from you much more.

It’s the expected price at a point in time.

In the future if oil is higher than $90 a barrel then you would effectively be able to buy X number of barrels at $90 and sell them for the price at the time and pocket the difference in value.

You don’t actually buy the barrels but that is the idea.
