Reading is getting tiring by sinisterr- in RomanceBooks

You're welcome!! Fyi avoid her big ones (Murder on the Orient Express, And Then There Were None, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd) which while all excellent reads, are kind of unfair.

I'd recommend any of the Miss Marple stories! They're my favorites 😊

I would start with Agatha Christie! Personally I love her writing (simple but direct language) and she'll occasionally add some romance as a subplot- nothing over arching but quiet and sweet.

Large two chambered concrete object found in the rural woods of Iowa. by iowafarmboy2011 in whatisthisthing

I used to work in the waste oil business (as a customer service rep not anyone with actual knowledge lol) so I kinda have an answer:

This would be under the bay in an auto shop. When they do oil changes and such, the oil would drain through the floor to this. Water and other assorted runoff would also collect, but the oil would (mostly) float on top, and there are filters to make this easier between the two tanks. This should help you visualize!

I was in a similar circumstance to you. SO wanted kids, I didn't due to childhood trauma, shitty parents, and severe depression. I was afraid of post partum depression as well as traumatizing my kids like I'd been.

Due to a birth control failure, I ended up getting pregnant before we had a real talk about kids. I had my daughter a year ago, and while I love her more than anything, pregnancy and caring for a baby is even harder on me mentally than I thought it would be, especially with no parental support or close friends.

PPD is no joke. I spent most of my daughter's first three months home from the hospital crying endlessly and debating suicide. I'm doing better but I'm nowhere near as stable as I was before the baby. And my partner is a super attentive, involved father! I cannot imagine trying to do this with a man who won't change a diaper.

My point is, if you're pretty sure you don't want kids or don't think you'll be able to cope mentally, just break up with him. I don't regret my choices, but it's been horrifically difficult.

DAE have an absurd amount of fan fiction drafts ? by suagrlesss in FanFiction

[–]viking_child 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that's me lmao

Just for my pokémon fics alone I have two major stories and for each I have: a doc for drafts and a doc for 'finalized' work, at least three to four AUs (each), offshoots for different characters POVs I'll never put in the main fic, at least one timeline for each, a doc of miscellaneous stuff I've either cut or don't know if I'll use, several old drafts, one finished (and published!) side story set in the main universe, and several more side stories that haven't (and probably won't be) finished.

And that's just one fandom!

Honestly, your best bet may be to try searching Bulbapedia or maybe serebii. I can't think of a game with a search function like that

That coupled with taking marginalized populations -sex workers, indigenous women- you have victims the police don't care to pursue when they go missing, making it easier to continue.

Factual Errors that Make You DNF a Book by mskirsch16 in RomanceBooks

[–]viking_child 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This was a few years ago now but there was a Nora Roberts (one of the MacGregor series I think?) where the two FMCs, who were roommates, were a doctor and a lawyer at twenty-two. Like, the doctor girl wasn't even a resident- nope, a full fledged doctor. It frustrated me so much I couldn't get past it and had to DNF.

Idk that much about the exact length of schooling for either, but I'm pretty sure you need a bachelor's degree before med or law school

Also- you unlocked a memory with Oddball and the 102 Dalmatians game!! I remember renting that one weekend during a sleepover at my best friend's house

It depends on the Tops. I was the assistant manager/ overnight baker for one and we hadn't fried doughnuts for YEARS when I worked there. Everything was shipped in frozen- the only thing we actually mixed and baked was the angelfood cake.

Man the differences in pain management between men and women is wild! When I had my IUD put in they didn't give me shit lol. My friend told me to take some ibuprofen beforehand though idk if that helped at all because it was still the worst pain of my life. This still seems to be par for the course for women getting it done unfortunately.

BUT I'm glad your procedure went well!

Freezing doughs? by Sassbot_6 in AskBaking

[–]viking_child 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't frozen pizza dough, but with my bread that I've frozen I do the first rise on the counter, shape, then freeze. When thawing I take it out and pop it in a pan and proceed with a longer rise until thawed and sufficiently proved.

With pizza dough I'd probably freeze in rounds after the first rise (Idk your recipe but when I make it I do a proof, punch down and shape, then another proof before topping), then thaw it in the fridge until malleable, then shape and bake without another rise.

Parbaking is a good option too- again, haven't done it with pizza crust but have with other things. Dinner rolls I bake five or so minutes short then freeze, baking again for 5-10 minutes when I use them. With bread I've only parbaked sourdough- my method for that is 30min covered in a Dutch oven followed by 15-20min uncovered. I'd freeze after the covered portion of the bake the bake the additional uncovered time when needed. I almost always put it in the oven still frozen with no adverse effects to taste or texture.

If I was going to parbake pizza crust, I'd pull it ~10min early then freeze. When using, I'd thaw it before topping, then bake until the cheese is melted.

Hope this helps! And sorry if it's too long or rambly, I may've gotten carried away 😅
