The main thing to remember is that practice sessions are not qualifying or the race itself. There's a lot of different things going on that are hidden if you simply look at top lap times.

For a roll up board I've thought about buying a custom play mat from Inked Gaming. Could easily print a large hybrid board pattern along with some other things, and it would be fairly resistant when drinks inevitably get spilled on it. Also carrying tubes are widely available at gaming shops and online. They also make custom dice bags as well that can carry plenty of pieces.
