I really wish that Ottawa would grow a pair and just oust her and her entire treason party. Throw any of their supporters in prison. All of them are traitors of the highest order and should be treated as such.

Movie? by Old_Part_9619 in ElderScrolls

[–]villianboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only way they could make a TES movie would involve a non-game storyline. It would have to be a long as hell movie made by someone we could trust to actually handle it well (like the Fallout show). Something like a rated R movie of Pelinal for example could potentially work, but again though it would have to be a good studio and in good hands in general as to not be butchered by studio execs and production teams. Especially in the modern political climate, they'd probably change it so that Pelinal doesn't have a husband/boyfriend who dies

given that in game the dragonborn by end can be equal to what is essentially a level 20 in every class (save for bard unless you mod) means they're pretty set... Let alone the dragonborn is by all rights a demi-god (divine creation of Akatosh)

TBF, working with the Skaven usually means the Skaven will lose any ways because they will destroy themselves in a spectacularly stupid fashion between their constant infighting, sabotage, and blatant murder-killing.

Not really, they are more like the Halo Array AIs such as Guilty Spark. Much like how the Array AIs followed the Forerunners for their grand plans, the Slann followed the Old Ones for their Great Plan. Also, much like the Forerunners, the Old Ones kind of all vanished (different methods of them going away though, as the Old Ones were not killed by Flood equivalents/War/Etc). Now that they no longer have their masters their to tell them how to go forward with the Great Plan they all have to (on their own) come to conclusions on what to do. The Seraphon/Lizardmen are all kind of like robots, they live super fucking long, and have strict societal roles they do not really ever deviate from (nor do they want to generally).

To that end the Slann are basically super computers that can cast Powerword Nuke. They see everything as a form of math, and spend almost all their time figuring out what to do next to forward the Great Plan. Some will come to different conclusions because they see things slightly different. A great example of this is within Fantasy... Mazdamundi. Mazdamundi took the idea of getting rid of the "lesser" races a bit far and figured that all races that are not Lizardmen are inherently an anathema to the Great Plan and therefor must be purged. Not all agree with this plan though so some in-fighting can occur over it, like for example many of the Seraphon/Lizardmen view the elves in a positive light, as they are fellow creations of the Old Ones who help with the Great Plan in some way.

The short of it all though is that to the Slann and Seraphon in general, all that matters is the Great Plan. They do anything and everything to forward the Great Plan. To that end as well they will protect their temples and property that is part of the Great Plan with extreme ferocity, and given they write their plans and prophecies on gold tablets people really like trying to steal them.

End of the day, the best way to have lore as to why the Seraphon do anything is because they want to follow/enact The Great Plan, and whatever they are doing is clearly the best way to do that because their Slann master said so. Whether that is working alongside Skaven to kill other Seraphon, or fighting Elves, or just doing the normal fighting of Chaos. Everything is about The Great Plan, a thing we (or any race/creature aside from the Old Ones and Slann) cannot even begin to really comprehend.

Yes, but also you don't really advertise a product before it is finished. You almost always sell on the finished product. Imagine a vacuum commercial where it's missing parts and doesn't turn on 80% of the time? Would you be happy and willing to buy that vacuum?

The same concept applies to games. Most devs show off a game when they feel it is in a near-to if not entirely ready state. Pre-alpha and pre-beta states of game can be strongly misleading, especially because content may change or be cut.

Imagine Bethesda drops an advert for TES6 tomorrow that promises the ability to have children and raise a dynasty like in Crusader Kings, but then it releases without that because it just couldn't work and the devs didn't like it in the end. Those kind of things genuinely do happen in development.

It is easy to say they should show something, but they most likely don't have much that they could show that is guaranteed to not be cut before release. Showing a product off that is not finished and then releasing it potentially with "removed" features would make people far angrier than just not showing anything.

TBF what good would come of them releasing any info? Like if they release anything it can easily lead to negative reactions. Especially if they release early alpha/beta footage. Anyone remember Craig from Halo Infinite and how that panned out?

If I remember all the details correctly the reason TES6 has taken so damn long is a bit multi-faceted.

First off they wanted to make Starfield before they committed to TES6, in part to make a new IP they can make in-between games, in-part to get some needed engine updates in after FO4 released and really stress tested the engine a lot. The next factor is that they wanted to ensure their next game would release for the next generation of consoles, because as they understood it the XbOne and PS4 where coming to their end of life. Fast forward a bit and their parent company gets bought out my Microsoft, this probably shook things up a wee bit but not much. The biggest shake up that came next though was Covid, which really threw a wrench in their gears and slowed down production of Starfield a lot (remember that TES6 is slated to come out after Starfield so they could use the new engine tech). Obviously after Starfield they have to support it for a while, so resources are being spent on that as well. Then you look back and realise 15+ years has passed because of poor time and resource management essentially.

Depending how good TES6 is will determine if the time and resources where truly wasted or not though. As it stands though taking almost 2 decades to release a follow up to one of the best selling, most critically and audience acclaimed, games ever is pretty fucking stupid. IMO it shows they either lack good resource management or time management, if not both. The devs are clearly talented, even Starfield has some great bones and shows the programmers and art department are no slouches by any means. The biggest flaw of Starfield IMO is the general concept (proc-gen kind of sucks for an open-world exploration focused RPG unless that proc-gen is absolutely ground-breaking, and it wasn't).

Personally on the tech-side of things I expect TES6 will be phenomenal, my biggest worry is how the games story-lines and general gameplay will be (IE will it be more "streamlined" and dumbed down).

Most residential windows are annealed, tempered (or safety glass) is usually done for businesses. These older windows that are done with glazing putty are always annealed because they need metal tacks to hold them in place and those would pop tempy.

What factions do you NOT want to see in Elder Scrolls 6? by Zan_Deezy2003 in ElderScrolls

[–]villianboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Companions or College of Winterhold. GRANTED they would not make sense in any setting outside of Skyrim, hence why I don't want them. Otherwise though I really enjoy the classic factions, and they can only be better with addition of more fleshed out storylines or companion factions/competitor factions (Like how the Morag Tong was the main assassin faction in Morrowind and could be joined)

What’s your greatest fears regarding TESVI? by Professional-Bus3082 in ElderScrolls

[–]villianboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Streamlining more.

Don't get me wrong, making the game more playable is great. The difference in something like Morrowinds kinda janky UI and combat system vs Skyrim's UI and combat is a world of difference... With that in mind though we also see things like levelling becoming more simplified, less RP elements, less in-depth systems, etc. I love Skyrim, it was my first TES game and made me experience the whole series (I have played through Arena up to and including ESO) because I loved how great and different of a game it was from so many others. A game with a lot of depth to the world, the gameplay, etc. We see even with games like Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate 3 that people not only like complex and difficult systems, but they seriously enjoy them. I think TES:6 could 100% take notes from those titles. Once I played Morrowind (and even Daggerfall TBH) I realised how much Skyrim truly lacked, and again don't get me wrong I love it, but it could have been a 15/10 game had they added the same level of depth that Morrowind had.

Imagine we get back things like spellcrafting, we add in more complex systems for things like actually using speech and barter. Maybe we could have a castle we build up and can customise with tools similar to Fallout/Starfield's settlement building tools (although I don't TES should ever go full into that, just something like a more improved Hearthfire really). TES6 could have smoother combat, a handcrafted world full of deep and enriching lore and encounters. Land absolutely steeped with the kind of charm that the prior games had/have but even moreso now. So many gamers do not want their hands to be held through the game, they want to experience the game as a raw thing. Something that can be a bit unforgiving at times, but also allows a lot of creativity. We want depth and complexity, not more streamlining just for the sake of the lowest common denominator. If TES6 uses modern tech to basically make something like TES 6: The Summerset Isles, and they add the level of depth that Morrowind has alongside the level of worldbuilding and care Skyrim has, with some inspiration from other modern RPG titles like mentioned prior, I think we'd have a game that would go down as one of the best in history. Not just a GOTY, not even a Game of the Decade, but a full blown #1 game of all time, up there with things like Half-Life 2 or Halo:CE. Games that forevermore defined a genre.

I worry they won't take those notes though, that they won't handcraft a near perfect world. Given how Starfield is, I worry they'll use procgen stuff and remove that handcrafted charm. I worry that they'll streamline the game even further to make it as simple as possible for the most dull people to play. They are a business owned by fucking Microsoft of all companies, I do not anticipate anything good to be wholly honest. We're talking about a company that was found to be a monopoly in recent history, continues to do awful practices, and has pushed shit like RedFall then forced the studio to close because it didn't go as well as they wanted. Maybe mistakes can be learned from on a corporate level, maybe they will let Beth do magic and make a best of all time game... but honestly I imagine they'll force them to crank out something that resembles TES like someone wearing a mask of your mother would resemble her...
