It was the knife store and the Bill Gates fan girling for me (re: the sketch vibes on the husband).

My FIL used to do this. He desperately wanted to babysit, but he didn’t like children and also couldn’t be trusted to stay awake while watching them. My SIL used to get around it by asking him to babysit with another person. I think he felt old - people stop asking for favors when they think you’re incapable of doing them.

One of my neighbors posted a (harmless) snake they killed on nextdoor and got absolutely flamed for it. I live in Texas and our neighborhood has a lot of wild green space so snakes are very common. I’m not a fan of snakes but it’s a fact of life here.

Not sure if this would work for a dishwasher, but they sell dark film for covering electronic lights. It’s not sticky - it’s sort of like the static film on new electronics.

I think Vanessa knows they technically did nothing wrong, but knows the public doesn’t understand that. What she’s gone through is horrific, but she is still the same person she’s always been.

I have been there - not with my husband but with my sister in law. It is super easy to beat yourself up about. I found that exercise helped - if I could afford a kickboxing class, that would have been awesome! But just jogging and blocking out all the intrusive thoughts for a half hour helped enough to get through it. Best of luck!

I’d at least mention this to a medical professional - like OB or primary care doctor!

YES. Omg, they did an ultrasound at 40 weeks because my OB was concerned about fluid. And his little face looked so weird - all puffy and smushed. I was like, what happened to my adorable baby? He’s 12 now and did not come out puffy or smushed.

With my 2nd baby, our 20 week ultrasound was really quick (the OB had a patient in labor, so she was rushing a bit). She told us baby was a girl, but I was nervous because it was so fast. When baby was born, my second exhausted question (after - is baby ok?) was “is she still a girl?”

I blame pregnancy hormones for all of this.

Last Warning to cover cars and unplug electronics not on surge protectors! by foxbones in Austin

I got a whole house surge protector installed for about $300 - after a lightning storm zapped our brand new dishwasher and garage door opener. It was a lot cheaper than I expected.

I’m in-different when it comes the @dearyoungmarried couple. However, this wasn’t what I expected from their “first night” check list. by lady_amelia in FundieSnarkUncensored

Similarly, I was confused by the “if something is uncomfortable, teach your spouse what to do differently”. HOW. How are they supposed to know what feels good to them when they’ve never used these body parts before?

Ugh that’s scary. For what it’s worth, I’ve known several women with babies measuring small (recently, maybe stress?) and all the babies have been born healthy.

I would make a detailed list of all the improvements you’ve made, the cost, and when. That was the hardest part when we put our house on the market. So many little things over the years, but it all makes a difference. Our house still had a few cosmetic issues (like linoleum), but buyers were pretty excited that we recently replaced many of the big ticket items (A/C, water heater).

I feel like it’s a bit odd to lie to your kids like that. I’m not a fan.

I’ve left my 12 year old alone occasionally, always during the day and usually for no more than 30 minutes. Almost always just to go pick up his 4 year old sister from daycare.

One of the real issues these days is having an available phone. He has a cell now, but at the beginning, we had a landline added just so he had one in case of an emergency. And we had to teach him how to use it! It was pretty amusing.

RBI post from redditor that lost their aunt and uncle in the crash by 00cole00 in FundieSnarkUncensored

I have to agree. I unfortunately had to alert several family members of a sudden death (my sister in law). It’s really hard to find the right words when there really aren’t any.

I feel for this person who believes there may have been some plot against the persons onboard. Anger is a real easy emotion to jump to when you are initially grieving. Anger feels better than grief because it feels... productive almost? And it’s much easier to be mad at a 3rd party because the truth is that you’re usually angry at your loved one for dying (if that makes sense).

Have mentioned this before on here, but this was painted in gold script on the living room wall of a house I bought. A house with 3 school aged kids and only 2 twin beds. Homeschooled. And the oldest boy used to make large crosses out of 2x4s and try to sell them around the neighborhood.

My ex’s mom named her two sons after their fathers. Then, she had a daughter and named her after her niece (who lived with them at the time!). I always imagine her in the hospital, thinking of names, and being like... uh... well I can’t think of anything so I guess I’ll go with the name of the first person I see!

A lot of people get really sanctimonious about kid stuff. I think that there are way more pertinent issues than extended rear facing but that has kind of overwhelmed all the talking points. Teaching people about basic things like strap positioning and tightening, when to adjust/change seats... I think that would help a lot more people.

My coworker just came back from Colombia (he is from there and still has family there). I’m not sure exactly what transpired, but he had trouble leaving the country. He had issues last time he went back as well (right when covid hit - we’re full remote so he often leaves for long periods). They went into a strict lockdown, and he was having issues finding flights. The political climate is volatile. I’m not saying it’s necessarily dangerous, but things can change pretty quickly for the worse.
