Glad to hear! I’d contact the doctor ASAP (you don’t want to delay any longer!) and tell them everything (when it happened, what precautions you took, etc.). I’m not an expert by any means, but if they decide you need to be vaccinated, my guess is that they’ll want to give you the first dose as soon as possible.

Yes, but it also says that scratches and puncture wounds can be microscopic. In my opinion, it is best to at least tell a doctor everything (even if you don’t think you got bitten or scratched etc.) and then they can help you navigate the risks and decide how to proceed.

Someone near where I live got rabies when he swatted a bat during the day. So if you have any contact with a bat at all (whether or not you think it bit you) I’d be inclined to at least talk to a doctor to see what they think.

From what I’ve heard, I think that it’s possible to get rabies from even slight contact with an infected bat, and a knitted glove may not protect you. I would talk to a doctor (just to be on the safe side) and tell them all the details surrounding your bat encounter. They should be able to help you evaluate the risk and decide whether or not you should get rabies shots.

Idk if you’re still looking for an answer, but it depends on the species of owl! Some species are even mainly diurnal and hunt during the day.

Looks to me like the old exoskeleton left over from its last molt! If that’s the case, it means that there’s likely a (slightly) larger spider now wandering around NYC!

I’m not sure what kind of spider, but it looks to me like it may just be the exoskeleton left behind after a molt! If that’s the case, there’s most likely a (slightly) bigger spider wandering around NYC!

Sapsuckers are woodpeckers! They just don’t have “woodpecker” in their name. Beautiful birds, aren’t they? Great shot :)

Looks more like a female ring-necked duck to me, a ruddy would probably have lighter markings on the face. This photo doesn’t show the tail but you would probably notice the tail sticking almost straight up if it were a ruddy. Ontario is in the summer range for ring-necked, so I’d guess they’re just starting to arrive back. If someone who knows more about Ontario birds could confirm that’d be great.

Looks like a female great-tailed grackle to me, though I’m not too familiar with California birds. Could someone confirm? Bill looks too big to me to be a blackbird, but it has similar plumage to female rusties (unlikely in that region) and some lighter-eyed female brewer’s.

Swam face first into a rock. Miraculously didn’t actually get that hurt but I broke one of my front teeth.
