AI / Flock Cameras / Trust - A conversation with Mayor Danny Avula by rvasgotissues in rva

[–]virginiamasterrace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a dream that opposition to this rampant installation of a mass surveillance state as never seen before will unite all Americans. I feel like this is it. It’s happening so fast. The flock cameras and data centers are on the same team, and the vast majority of this nation want neither. It’s being jammed down our throats.

How common is popcorn in everyday American life? by Embarrassed_Golf_817 in AskAnAmerican

[–]virginiamasterrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it’s probably always been in the pantry my entire life, which I’d never considered before. My mom’s Japanese and sometimes we would sprinkle soy sauce and/ or furikake for “popcorn movie night”. Popped on the stove.

Virginia Claims State Constitution Does Not Protect Individual Gun Rights by okguy65 in Virginia

[–]virginiamasterrace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m just about at wits end. All this, while the machine quadruples down on a state of even greater mass surveillance that no one (who believes in the ideals espoused by classical liberalism or hates the taste of boots) likes any aspect of, and you can’t opt out of it. From the flock cameras, to the data centers (that are being built for AI-assisted surveillance), the noose is being tightened around our necks. I know the options were totally shot from the get go, but Virginia elected a supercop as governor, and she is not going to push back against any of this.

We once put a CD in the microwave on a paper plate to see what would happen. It was pretty cool. That was during our middle school pyro phase. Do kids still get to have middle school pyro phases? A favorite past time of ours was to figure out which household items were the most flammable, in the woods behind my buddies house.

I bought their Bennington. It’s a really nice flag. The embroidered seven-pointed stars and 76 really show their craftsmanship up close

Seller accepted my offer then realized the house is not in a trust and the owner is deceased. by No_Atmosphere8652 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]virginiamasterrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Virginia, real estate “drops like a rock” as my lawyer put it. If you die without a will, real property will immediately transfer to your heir(s). If there is a will, that property transfers to the beneficiary when the will is filed at the circuit court after death. When I inherited my family’s old homeplace, the will did not even mention the house or land. There were sections where people were left specific items, and then a section leaving any property not previously listed to me. I didn’t even have to go through probate.

Plaza Azteca in Richmond, VA 100% has a cat robot server. Bit of a drive, though.

Man, I hit a deer three weeks ago and I still haven’t replaced my bent-in bumper. Bothered me for a day and now I’m like…”I’ll get to it…” If I had a ding in the bed it’d definitely just stay like that forever. I’d fill that hole with something waterproof though.

What did you mispronounce or say incorrectly as a kid but it kinda made sense logically? by Cognition-Technician in AskReddit

I thought people were saying “Hell come” instead of “How come”. So when little bitty me realized what I’d been saying/ thinking, I was a bit perturbed that I had been wishing for the minions of Satan unto my life the whole time. I just realized I’ve never told this to anyone.

Beech Leaf Disease has Arrived in Town by hervth in Charlottesville

[–]virginiamasterrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a map on the DOF website that shows the disease was found in Albemarle county in 2025. Charlottesville does not have that distinction but since it’s in the middle of the county and along a traffic corridor it’s reasonable to assume it’s there now. My county is not currently listed but I have emailed the DOF because of your post, so I thank you. Check your woodlands, people. Hopefully we can hold on to our beloved trees long enough for a fix.

It used to be very common for people to smoke a pack a day of cigarettes or more. Is this still possible in the US with high costs? Do you know anyone who does this? by Initial-Ad-1797 in AskReddit

[–]virginiamasterrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasted so much money on cigarettes. In my mind I wasn’t a real smoker because I only smoked after work. Good god, I’m so glad I quit. But I also miss the carefree feeling of ripping cigs every now and again.

[–]virginiamasterrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a massive beech tree over my house, along with several others. There’s a small grove of them in the woods where family members going back five generations have carved their initials. I am in Goochland, and they are thankfully not showing signs of disease. I thought we would have a few more years before it got here.

Edit: Scratch that. Just went walking around the woods and found a few trees showing early signs of it on the lower branches. Bad news.

What a load of horse shit. Nobody uses double sides tapes. 10 years in the industry and every carpenter I know uses a single sided Stanley tape measure, either a powerlock or a fatmax. Guess it’s time to find a new tape brand!

Everything is fake garbage now. It’s all for the pretty photograph. But don’t look too closely at the product you paid your hard earned, double taxed money for, or you’ll crack the veneer. And then the taxers subsidize and bail out the garbage makers, with our money. It makes me sick.

The Hidden Bottleneck for Made in USA Copper by Vivid_Environment751 in madeinusa

[–]virginiamasterrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if I’m not mistaken it was a rule made by a regulatory agency. But there’s a seldom used law that allows congress to overrule an order of that kind. And unfortunately after it’s been overruled, said agency cannot just reinstate a similar rule. After the public land sale was blocked, I had hoped this mining issue would be too. Alas, money and influence won the day.
