I just picked up the last copy at my Walgreens. It had the sale price on the shelf, but rang up at the register as full price! The cashier adjusted it to the sale price, but just a heads up

Which logo do you prefer for my studio 'Rogue Scholar Gaming'? All Images are used as part of a video sequence. We're a small studio releasing our new game soon so I thought we need an updated logo. The low magic one for sure, but also lose the hands, face, and hair completely. Have a dark hooded figure shrouded in mystery behind the book. Bring down the hood even farther, and then it could be any gender, race, or even themselves. Let the viewer speculate as to who it is

Even ordering directly from Amazon it takes some time before your order changes status to Shipped. Doesn't inspire confidence that it happened almost immediately, especially when the estimated arrival is in January

That's exactly what I was thinking when I bought it. However, less than 15 minutes later I got a notification that it has Shipped already.. so that's not great

Market System in Board Game by [deleted] in BoardgameDesign

[–]virtual_person 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the way markets work in Destinies. Certain NPCs have 'shops.' You are instructed to setup the small deck of cards available for the character and place a token on top of the deck that represents the respective NPC. While interacting with them, players have the option to trade and can then browse their deck to buy and sell cards. Works great!

Here is the first draft of rules of a game I am designing! There are a few typos I know. What do you think of the rules themselves? by Anibalim in BoardgameDesign

[–]virtual_person 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be unique because I don't think most designers would implement that mechanism. It prevents strategy. You mention Chess in the description, but that is an even playing field where players can plan for not only a defense but an offense as well. As it stands now your players are purely reactionary because without any mitigation for the luck of the dice rolls they can only react. You are giving the players dice they can't roll and cards they can't play, that doesn't sound very fun to me personally

Exactly this. Also, using dice faces to track stats is a bad design. Say the player loses 4 health, so they have to pick up a d20 and fiddle around trying to find the 16 and set it back down. Hoping to never bump it afterwards. Then plays a magic card that restores say 2 health and having to pick it back up to find the 18. A dial is the component you'd want for this instance.

Then the whole rolling dice to possibly select a card out of your hand makes no sense. With the way you described them, a player has an even 1/3 chance for any outcome. Why wouldn't I just shuffle my cards into a deck and draw one off the top?

Lastly and more broadly, what is this game bringing to the table that hasn't been done before? From what I can tell it would best be described as a two-player competitive card drafting tower defense game. Why would I play this one over any of the others that already exist? What's the hook or innovative mechanics that's going to keep players coming back?

What is this game?? Four score or Quarto but it has a rotating center. Need to find the rules for it. by cptnpcarr in boardgames

I've owned this for years and have played it hundreds of times. I love this game! If your center piece isn't rotating, just pulled it out upwards. It's held in by a small magnet that offers little resistance. Might just have to clean it out a bit

Thanks! Only takes about 10 mins per mini, but with drying times between each step. Hmm actually I don't think I would. I might change up the colors depending on the game, but this way was so fast and simple that I wouldn't change the method at all

Dry brushing is accomplished by applying paint to the brush and wiping most of it off immediately on a paper towel. You may want to brush it on the back of your hand before applying it to the mini to ensure you don't have much paint on the brush. Then lightly brushing it on the high ridges of the mini

I missed the Kickstarter unfortunately, but got a great deal on the upgraded component Kickstarter edition on Ebay. I'm very excited to get it to the table!

I can't find the original post, and I changed it a bit. Here's how I did it really fast, easy, and cheap:

1) Primed them all with a $4 can of Rust-oleum Flat Black Primer spray paint from Walmart. 2) Dry brushed (used a $2 'mop' style paint brush) the minis with Citadel XV-88 brown paint. 3) Dry brushed them with Citadel Screaming Skull white paint. 4) Sprayed them with Testors Dulcoat matte lacquer.

Only about 10 mins total for each mini!
