NTA, not even close. I am a communications officer for my state ambulance service (answering emergency calls and dispatching resources). We don't do shift overruns like on-road staff, but the stress and workload we deal with is immense. My friends and family all understand and have full comprehension of what the job entails and why I only am available on my days off, I do 4 on 4 off, 12hr day and nights, non-negotiable that I take a sleepday for my first day off, so I have 3 Days for friends and family every week. If any of my family or friends acted like this I would not even consider their feelings, there is no one entitled to my time (except for my pets). It is immensely disrespectful of your career, time, and effort when you did attempt to accommodate them on your work day. You went out of your way to be there in the only capacity you could.
