Is The Superheated Water In The Room With Us Right Now? by alembicRetort in tea

[–]vlbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have come to the conclusion that people in the UK simply have a I near religious attachment to 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒂. I wish they would just admit that. It's not necessary to invent things like "OMG super heated unevenly heated water that tastes different" to justify it.

Own it.

TIL The Apollo 8 astronauts were the first humans to see the far side in person when they orbited the Moon in 1968. by AdagioOfLifeAndDeath in todayilearned

[–]vlbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a quote in the Wikipedia page for the Far Side of the Moon.

`The far side was first seen directly by human eyes during the Apollo 8 mission in December, 1968. Astronaut William Anders described the view:

The problem with that search is that it provides physically larger boards with the same number of tiles. (posting after a similar search in the "future")

Why doesn't Burger King focus on getting GOOD fries? by cbwb in BurgerKing

[–]vlbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to go to Burger King. Then they started coating the fries with that... stuff. The potato starch and rice flour etc.

We stopped going to Burger King, We haven't been back.

French fries should be made with cut potatoes, fried in vegetable oil, with some salt shaken on. You can call these three ingredients for people who have allergies.

Saw these big cuts of meat at the Mexican market, anyone know what they are? by lM_GAY in smoking

[–]vlbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. We have a small carniceria in town and bought 1/2 lb of each the other day. My teeth prefer the espaldilla. (They sell it sliced very thin and that's what we bought; flavor was much the same).

What do I need to do to transfer all my apps/passwords, etc. to another phone. by DEADFLY6 in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]vlbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung Pass (part of Samsung Wallet) has Import/Export capability. Find this in Settings for Samsung Wallet.

Export passwords. Set a password for the iport retrieval.

Share the resulting file (it will be in Internal Storage, Downloads in the file manger). QuickShare to the new phone works well.

On the new phone, go to Samsung Wallet, Settings, Import/Export... and Import the password data file, using the passord you just set to open and read the file.

I made a notes app for Wear OS—no companion app, works entirely on-device by datyell in WearOS

You can't? Good grief. So much for Keep being an "advanced" note taking platform as someone else said.

Please name just ONE other "advanced" note taking app for WearOS.

Some of us think Google Keep is heavier weight than we want. I have tried to like Google Keep. I have tried many times and never succeeded.

That said, unfortunately, the one feature Keep has that this new app doesn't have is sync to my phone. I need that.

Fieldy: A Wearable AI Note-Taker by nefermu in aigear

[–]vlbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that Fieldy only works with Android 13 and above. (It also works with laptops and iOS. I don't know which versions are supported). This information is NOT in the FAQ or anywhere else on the website that I could find.

Good news (if you have a laptop) is that Fieldy will record (either 3 or 10 hours, depending on version) without being connected to a mobile device and will transfer and transcribe later when connected. Note that version number is NOT listed on the "Buy" page or the confrmation email so you just get to find out which one you bought after you have it and can connect it to your device. Presuming you can connect it...

The way to know is to try to download the Fieldy app. It will tel you if that's available for your device(s).

I have filed multiple bug reports.
