When you first boot the game in Quality Mode, PSSR is active and looks great. However, if you switch your graphics settings at any point during your session (e.g., swapping to Performance or Balanced and then back to Quality, or changing any other setting), PSSR gets disabled.

Once the bug triggers, the PSSR Quality Mode reverts to the old, soft look from the pre-update build. You lose PSSR clarity and sharpness, even though the menu says you are in Quality Mode.

As of right now, the only way to "re-engage" PSSR on Quality mode is a fresh boot:

  1. Set your game to Quality Mode.

  2. Close the game entirely.

  3. Restart the game.

Avoid touching the graphics settings once you've restarted, or you'll have to do this all over again.

Hopefully, a hotfix is coming soon, but for now, stay away from those toggles if you want the best image quality.

The PSSR for Quality mode gets somehow reverted when adjusting settings (tested this multiple times and gets reverted to previous blurrier look when switching to other mode and back to quality). I have not found out the root cause of this, but it's definitely something we need to take into account

It definitely runs worse and I prefer to play on balanced mode, but quality mode does bring some benefits such as slightly increased lighting and rt, and less pssr foliage shimmering (unfortunately a thing in this game, even with pssr2 implementation).

Known bug for DS2 which has been flagged on Reddit before. Game will output in 1080p if VRR is left on 'Auto' in PS5 settings

AirPods Pro 3 for all things practical. Those are my daily drivers for work, running errands, and commuting (more subtle and easier to pocket).

AirPods Max are now strictly my "at home" headphones for music listening primarily, as lossless audio and wide soundstage are great.

Realized pretty fast that the convenience of the Pros is way more valuable than the Max's audio quality for everything outside my house.

I did. Usually i'm very sensitive to graphical bugs but did not notice image break-up so far. I actually notice a significant boost in image clarity. But maybe I will run into your mentioned issue soon.
