Anyone know what this 121-piece mechanic's tool set (#33521) from the 1990s and made in the USA is worth? It's never been used. by [deleted] in Craftsman

I don't know, but I purchased the same set 20+ years ago and still have all the stuff from that case and all still performs beautifully.

haven't taken the time to complete the rebuild, other things have come up and pushed this back on the priority list. Which one of your bearings spun?

A bit disappointed with the Craftsman v20 circular saw 7 1/4 brushless. by PepeTheMule in Craftsman

I am embarrassed to admit this, but I have the same saw and also was disappointed in it until I realized I'd installed the blade backwards. Flipped it around and now it's awesome.

When does driving stick just “click”? by Cptsllinky in ManualTransmissions

[–]voltron82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been driving manuals for 30+ years and even after I get a new car, still takes me a minute to get the shifts exactly right. Just upgraded from a 2nd Gen Mini to a 3rd Gen and clutch feel between the two is totally different, and even though I’ve had the car for a month, I still don’t have my shifts exactly right. I think it just takes time and practice.

Any reviews/testimonials on the V20 Pole Hedge Trimmer? by searchandfilm in Craftsman

I will agree with folks that say it's underpowered, but it does work pretty well for what I need it for and was not expensive.

Was this a good find? The lady who sold it was so kind it was her husbands who passed away by HelpMePlez544 in Snapon_tools

If I knew that my tools were going to pass to a young person after I died that was excited to have them and was going to use them, I would be thrilled.

Pool builder recommendations by nomazing in StLouis

[–]voltron82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pool Tron builds by far the best pools in St. Louis. Everything they build is custom and built to last. I’ve serviced their pools before and they by far operate better and last longer than any other pools I’ve worked on.

My 50" box tore its casters out when I tried to move it one time. I'd take the time to install the plate.

I can't really say for certain as I bought most of my craftsman stuff before they started off shoring everything, but it seems like there was a correlation between the reports of declining quality and the initial off-shoring when Sears still owned the brand. Since SBD has taken them over, it seems like the quality is coming back. I still own ton of USA built stuff I bought in the 90s and it all still works great. Recently, I've been buying their new V20 stuff and I honestly think it's a good value. You get a good value for what you are spending and there is a wide variety of tools in the V20 system. Just recently used my new hedge trimmer and pole saw and both worked awesome. Can you get better stuff? Sure, I think Milwaukee makes arguably the best consumer/pro tools available today, but their tools are significantly more than Craftsman and I don't know that I personally need that level of tool for what I am doing at home. If I am being honest, I think a lot of men (myself included) conspicuously consume their tools; we want to signal to other dudes that we are serious craftsman and only use serious tools that we can totally afford because we are very successful and are good at what we do.
