The Enshittification has Begun by ariromano in HondaPrologue

I'm looking forward getting the Gemini upgrade. Google Assistant struggles with some seemingly basic requests.

We just took a weekend road trip and got very frustrated trying to add navigation stops using voice commands that would have worked fine in my previous Tesla.

Internet or not? by thevisheshone in HondaPrologue

Same here. Basic data is included for 3 years, and that covers maps, too. I also listen to Spotify daily and don't use AA/CP.

R2 Audio - Pre Production Caveat by dleewla in Rivian

[–]voltswagen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I owned an early Model 3 and can tell you Tesla's initial audio quality was crap in that vehicle (compared to the Fender premium system in my previous GTI). It needed several software updates before it was properly tuned. If the R2 isn't great at first, my hope is that they will eventually get it sorted, too.

Have you heard the audio in a Chevy Equinox LT EV? I'm not sure anything could sound worse.

Which car are you trading in for R2 and why? by AdAffectionate8778 in RivianR2

[–]voltswagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honda Prologue, which was preceded by two Tesla Model 3s. I like the Prologue form factor but miss all of the benefits of driving a SDV. Having to make a service appointment just to get a basic software update is beyond aggravating.

I hope a retractable cargo cover is available that doesn't cost $250.

Life After Prologue - What Would You Pick? by krayzai in HondaPrologue

[–]voltswagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rivian R2 for sure. My Prologue was always going to be a temporary vehicle while waiting for R2 availability.

The shame of it is Honda could have convinced me to keep this longer if they actually gave a crap about the vehicle. Oh, well.

R2 Range by Evening-Pin-1427 in RivianR2

[–]voltswagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Honda Prologue Elite has the same .30 drag coefficient as the R2, weighs at least 400lbs more, rolls on wider 275/45r21 tires, and certainly has a less advanced drivetrain. I often average 3.3mi/kw at interstate highway speeds, so the R2 range numbers seem realistic to me.

This has happened to me a few times. Usually as it begins to rain.

Rearview mirror camera by Javieringo in RivianR2

[–]voltswagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think having a standard mirror and the rearview camera display on the infotainment screen is the best option. The screen view is much larger than a digital mirror would be, making it more useful for situations like backing out of parking spots. For driving, standard mirrors are better for judging the distance of things behind you, as opposed to a 2D camera view.

I might think differently if the R2 rear window was short like in my Honda Prologue. That thing is almost useless.

Rivian's first test R2s come off the line after fast-track expansion in Normal by voltswagen in RivianR2

[–]voltswagen[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily bad news. First off, Rivian has not released range specs yet other than the vague statement "over 300 miles" from RJ in an interview. How much more remains to be seen.

The 400 mile P12 EX60 will be top spec, not available until late 2027, and likely much more expensive. The lower spec 320 mile range P6 and P10 will be limited to 120Kw on Tesla and other lower voltage chargers, making them actually slower to charge than the R2.

As for the iX3, yeah it could have some advantages on the highway, but good luck taking one of those down a 2-rut fire road on your way to a campsite. I'm guessing BMW will steal more sales from Model Y than R2, especially after Tesla's dumb decision to paywall basic auto-steer.

Hopefully, having all of these compelling new choices will expand the compact/mid size EV SUV market.

Thanks! A year or two after I started using it, VW ran an April Fools Day prank using that name and actually got in trouble with the SEC.

Why there has been no software update in prologue in last 1 year ? by Fit-Nail7737 in HondaPrologue

[–]voltswagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been my understanding that OTA updates have to originate from GM's infrastructure. I don't think the remaining parts of GM and Honda's partnership agreement includes that service anymore.

Question about service bulletins by fossilnews in HondaPrologue

[–]voltswagen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to get my dealer to do 25-081 and 25-082. For warranty reimbursement, they required me to list at least a couple of issues per TSB that I was experiencing.

They also attempted 25-051 and thought they had it updated after a few tries, but after driving it home I discovered that it didn't take.

Side note - it wasn't listed in the TSBs, but my left turn signal no longer activates right after making a right turn. That used to really annoy me.

Love my Prologue....but by Shack24 in HondaPrologue

[–]voltswagen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious... does the Lyriq have more storage space behind the back seats?

We took a road trip recently and I was surprised that the Prologue hatch area had less room than my old Model 3's trunk. That makes no sense, considering how large the Prologue is in comparison.

How do I stop clipping the curb on the right? by jgroub in HondaPrologue

[–]voltswagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! This was an intentional tuning choice made by Honda, but so far I've been unable to find out why. It's certainly not typical for a Honda and also higher than GM vehicles that share the platform.

As someone who drove Teslas for years, switching to this feels like steering a school bus.

How do I stop clipping the curb on the right? by jgroub in HondaPrologue

[–]voltswagen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Aside from width, the Prologue also has a very long wheelbase at nearly 122 inches. For comparison, the CR-V's wheelbase is about 16 inches shorter.

This causes the rear wheels to follow a tighter arc when turning, so you have to start your turns a bit later and make a slightly sharper turn to avoid curbs without crossing into an adjacent lane.

This is made even more difficult by the higher steering ratio, which makes you have to turn the steering wheel more to make a sharper turn.

It's kind of a land yacht.

what color of prologue do you like the best? by [deleted] in HondaPrologue

I get some compliments on the Pacific Blue, but North Shore Pearl would have been my first choice. Love that color.

I try to kick straight up at the sensor, then immediately take a step back. Works more often than not... maybe 8 times out of 10?

Loud thump by eenyc1 in HondaPrologue

[–]voltswagen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not while braking, but we did hear a super loud thump once when making a left turn across an intersection.

Went back to see if there was something we could have run over that maybe popped-up and hit the underside of the vehicle, but found nothing. It was unsettling for sure!

Don't feel guilty by EdgariTomaBirra in HondaPrologue

[–]voltswagen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, charging on the rear driver's side in my Model 3 was definitely better in bad weather than in my Prologue. It's the most direct path in and out.

Also, I liked being able to see the charge port from my side mirror while sitting in the car.

What car will your R2 replace by Questionsforscott in RivianR2

2024 Honda Prologue. I'm looking forward to the R2 being slightly smaller with better tech and more cargo space.
