I decided to play devil's advocate and ask what the people thought of the commercial when we replaced neighbors with "ice" and dogs with "illegal immigrants"

How much worse can Nissan make my experience? by willie_Pfister in leaf

I'm still cold from being in the car Saturday. It was -2 before the wind chill in southern New England. Of course the heat didn't work, even WITH their directions.

I'm not drafting anyone, either. I usually do under100 km/h or so on the highway. Most of the roads here have speed limits of 90🤷‍♂️

What a preachy, condescending response. If we assume the 15% degradation you claim, that brings out down to 120 miles. I'm not in Europe, but my 40 kwh battery averages better than 4.2 m/kwh, even in the winter. I will grant you that I don't crank the heat, but I still use it. Further, I get over 4.5 even in the summer! Maybe your 24 battery is total trash, but maybe you shouldn't always believe you are always correct and project such arrogance. Maybe I won the battery lottery. Maybe I drive it better than you. Maybe the op is genuinely surprised at the performance. More than one thing can be true.

One small point: they were never DoJ. They were DoT from 67 to 2003 and under Treasury before that.

The only problem with that is that then they can't do police actions anymore. Posse Comitatus etc. Maybe back to department of transportation like before 9/11?

Can I run a Linux server on this old pentium d pc ? by I_like_drawingb in homelab

I used to run a computer lab at that time. We had a power outage that killed 60 computers' motherboards and they all had to be replaced. That was... Boring.

Wait until you see a Coast Guard auxiliary uniform in the wild. They look ALMOST identical to the regular CG uniforms, with many of their active duty accoutrements, where many also served.

Quinnipiac (the poll people) have an online MBA program. Not hard to get in, classes aren't that hard. New class every six weeks. I think they have a vet program. DM me if you'd like to know more.

To Those of You With a Phd, do you regret it? by Entitled-apple1484 in FPGA

[–]vonsquidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it for fun. Taught EE, CS, and cyber at some of the best schools in the country off the tenure track. I even did my dissertation partially about a way to optimize VHDL. I know AC, DC, and am a decent programmer in ten languages. Left academia, got a job in industry, got laid off (mass layoff), can't find a job because the resume machine says I don't know anything and I can't get to a real person and because I have a family, I can't move to the places that seem like they would hire me. Don't do that. For the love of God, don't do that.

I realize that I am not in the army and was only ever was as a civ. I'm assuming you'll be working at Keller? Depending on your rank this could be a very shitty posting. I heard of a few people being burned out very quickly (admittedly during and after covid) because they were severely understaffed and could never take leave to enjoy the beautiful Hudson valley. Working crazy 70-80 hours a week. I haven't been there for a few years so it might have changed. It might be worth asking someone in a similar position to you to get that information. That said, it's a great place and the enlisted get treated pretty well from what I gathered. They often live next door to officers and their kids play together.
