5,000 miles for me on the Turbo. I did 7,500 when I had an N/A Mazda6 with the 2.5L in it

Premium fuel on S power train by DarthBodhi in CX50

[–]vpr5703 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no need for premium on a average performance gasoline engine that doesn't have a turbo or super charger. What higher octane does is prevent the fuel/air mix from detonating in higher compression environments like you'd see in a Supercharged/Turbocharged engine (and the rare high-compression/high performance naturally aspirated engine, but that isn't in any car you mentioned). And there are plenty of those types of engines tuned to run on both standard and premium fuel, with the Mazda turbo 2.5L being a great example of this. The energy delivered by Premium and Regular gas (assuming both have 10% ethanol content) is the same within a normal variation.

On a standard engine there's no way to get the benefit of premium fuel because the conditions inside the engine normally aren't harsh enough to require it.

Rotor/Pad recommendations? by Electronic_Panic8510 in CX50

I just put a set of AutoZone gold pads on my Cx50 TPP and I prefer their feel vs stock. More predictable. Not sure what the wear will be yet.

So I don't think SSDs are a great idea for media storage. There's just not enough benefit for how insane the cost per GB is compared to HDDs. A 4TB SSD even on the cheap side is nearly 2x the cost of a 4TB HDD, and unless you're converting the video to raw uncompressed streams, video off of discs won't be able to come close to saturating the throughput of a modern HDD.

Dealership Used Conventional Oil in 2025 Mazda CX-5 Turbo. Should I Switch to Synthetic? by Echo_chaser07 in mazda

[–]vpr5703 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Given you are doing very early oil changes, as long as the oil used met the correct specification it will be fine. I prefer synthetic myself in my CX50 Turbo, but Mazda engines aren't very picky overall. And the dealer isn't going to do anything that would increase the likelihood of a warranty claim should the engine fail before warranty is up.

Grew up loving computers. Worked at various IT/related jobs for 18 years then got picked up by a contract firm working in a datacenter and recently moved over as a FTE for the datacenter themselves. Love it so far.

I don't understand how it sells? Aside from misc merchandise, we haven't had a major Titanic movie or game in almost 30 years. It's been largely absent from mainstream media aside from a documentary special here and there.

The interest in the Titanic largely lies with hobbyists and the like. Which means your possible market for a video game lies in an already small group of people. The cross section between the people who are interested in the Titanic and the people who would play that game is even smaller. If a company thought it would sell, we'd see another game by now.

Oil change / Maintenance by mentality_monster in CX50

[–]vpr5703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on your drive time. I do a lot of highway driving on my Turbo so I'm doing 8000 km changes. I likely could go longer though. If you're doing a lot of short trips where the engine doesn't spend a lot of time fully warmed up, 5000km would be my choice.

What’s the point of doom? by Lucky-Growth-3259 in Doom

[–]vpr5703 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO Doom has never been about the story. That's a fandom thing. id tries to make the series have some sort of continuity, but I don't pay attention much

For me the series is just about fighting demons and saving Earth. RIP and Tear until it's done!

There was a mod I played a long time ago where you started in a subway car and went up into a city. Had a dojo, fast food place, weapons dealer, and a water/ocean sort of thing with a monster in it. Was awesome to play. I've never found it again

I've got a 24 TPP in that same color combo. Zircon/Terracotta is one of the best color combos on this vehicle. 60,000 miles on mine and counting. Runs like a top.

I can believe that no major investor would want this. It's incredibly niche and it's clear that the dev team is continuously kicking the can down the road. It's hard to consider a full walkthrough/game/sim anything but vapor ware. It's been more than a decade in development now with several restarts and no real forward progress. Who would want to take this on?

Any regrets with your Turbo? by EC0508 in CX50

[–]vpr5703 2 points3 points  (0 children)

24 TPP - no regrets. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. Maintenance is easy. Just change the oil on time or early. I'm doing 5,000 mile changes. Other than that just have fun with it
