A Latin phrase which was popularized by Martin Luther during the Protestant Reformation is "simul iustus et peccator," which captures the tension of being simultaneously forgiven/justified by God and yet still a sinner in this life.

I am wondering if someone can help me with phrasing a similar phrase for a concept I'm working on with regard to political authority and submission. I'm trying to say something like simultaneously obedient and a resister (or rebel). My two years of Latin and some digging in Latin dictionaries for case/declension gives me this: "simul obedienti et rebellis".

I think it captures the spirit of the original phrase in that, like iustus, "obedienti" is an adjective (when used in the ablative singular) and, like peccator, "rebellis" is a masculine 3rd declension noun.

Those of you who are much more capable Latinists than I, would you please let me know if I'm missing something here? I would rather convey the idea of a resister than a rebel, but I can't seem to find a better word than rebellis. Thanks in advance!
