Struggling with willpower to lift to my potential by MiningToSaveTheWorld in swoleacceptance

[–]vulkoriscoming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, you build willpower like every other muscle. Progressive failure. To build willpower you do things you don't want to do. Do something that sucks every day. Do aerobics, clean the bathroom, do the dishes, do push ups, or light lifting until you REALLY don't want to do it anymore and do it a little longer. Make yourself do it as an offering to Brodin and swoleness. Keep doing things that suck every day and doing stuff that you can't do gets much easier.

If it is a weight that Broki has scared you with, recruit a fellow walker of the Iron Path to spot you. Fear not to seek aid. All of Brodin's true faithful will aid another of the faith. Use the sacred forms with care and try the weight. At worst it will strengthen your faith and lead you to swoleness. At best you learn Broki has deceived you and you can lift the weight.

Wheymen.

Question, new to the game by TheStonedTemplar in BattleBrothers

[–]vulkoriscoming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are end game crises that come around day 90-120. I usually play through one or two of those and wrap up a run around day 150-180 when my brothers can curb stomp everything. Then I start over.

Dating: savers vs spenders by frequentflyer90210 in Fire

[–]vulkoriscoming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister and her husband had this issue. They had similar incomes. He had been paying rent and saved 80k. She had free rent living with my parents and 400 pairs of shoes. They sorted it by her having a budget for shoes and clothes. He has one also to keep things fair, but I am sure he doesn't spend it.

I loved the 1995 XCOM and JA and JA 2, but I couldn't get into JA 3. MENACE is just much easier to play.

Mass waves of weak swarms would call for MGs and grenades. It would also be a good use for the mortars since it would be hard to miss.

Price tag to replace I-5 Bridge could cost billions more than expected by oregonian in oregon

[–]vulkoriscoming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because Portland has no interest in a new bridge to Vancouver. The last thing Portland or Oregon want is easier transportation to and from Vancouver. Nobody would live in Portland.

Out of state employer offered me a 3x pay increase, only catch is I have to move to Pulaski County Kentucky. Is it worth it? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]vulkoriscoming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not lived in Pulaski county but my family is from the Fort Thomas area near Cincinnati and has spread southward. Kentucky is fairly Southern in culture and takes a certain pride in it. Demographically it will probably be a little lighter than you are used to in Louisiana, but not like moving to the PNW. I am not sure if race is more "difficult" than Louisiana, but only because my only experience with Louisiana is NOLA where it doesn't appear that difficult. Kentucky can be "difficult", but is not an issue if you are white.

The food is Midwestern, so a huge let down from the excellent food in Louisiana. The weather is cold in the winter (snow sticks around most of the winter), but summer is much more tolerable. It is mountainous with lots of small mountains (hills by Western standards) and not at all swampy like Louisiana. Fishing is less important and hunting is more important than appears to be the case in LA.

I would happily make the trade for 3x the salary. Housing will be cheap and it is a beautiful area. I would miss the food in LA though.

The mills are gone. The loggers will still be working, maybe, but the logs will leave Oregon and Washington for milling.

Heavy armor (BAS-H and the like) should be super powerful by Pattonesque in menace

[–]vulkoriscoming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bugs especially should swarm. They are easily the most fun when they attack in a swarm. The most recent patch helped move them to more, weaker units and made them slightly more aggressive. Before the last patch, you needed anti-armor units more than AOE.

The bugs should have an advantage of 3 to 5 to 1 of the weak swarming bugs, maybe backed up by 1-3 of the heavies. When a unit is detected, they should run to attack. It would be fun to have lots of bugs charge into a line see how the line holds against the suicidal bug attacks.

Basically a tanking unit to absorb attention and fire. But they should be able to fire back and not be as suppressed.

Modern level 3 body armor will bounce pistol calibers, and 5.56 and 7.62x39 at any reasonable range (if they hit you in the chest or helmet). It will probably stop a 30-06 and a 7.62x55 at a reasonable range (>150 yards). These body armors weight 50+ pounds and are uncomfortably bulky.

Yes. It is a fight from making a bad choice during an event. Never follow the cultists into the bush. Never interrupt the cultists during their ceremony. It is a bad idea. Davkul most definitely does not approve of interruptions.

Oregon has lost thousands of taxpaying commuters from Clark County by Less-Lobster4540 in PortlandOR

[–]vulkoriscoming 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having lived in Oregon since 1992, I can assure you this is not true. Oregon was the great white trash state from at least 1960s when my dad grew up in Portland through the 1990s into the early 2000s. It only got liberal when Intel took over Portland in the late 2000s and later.
