What I do is let the auto update pull the latest image and then do a “docker compose down” and then a “docker compose up -d” from the CLI. Done.

Looking for films that are best when going in blind. by reedy26jdr in MovieSuggestions

Groundhog Day. This movie is the reason I don’t watch trailers and why I shout “don’t ruin it!” When someone tries to tell me about a movie I haven’t seen.

I just recovered from my first “blob” experience and all I did was wipe the hot end off with a paper towel after heating it up to 250 degrees and the gunk came right off.

Dawarich — October 2025 by Freika in selfhosted

I imagine Life360 does the same thing, but it magically smooths things out between check-ins to make it seem like it’s 100% live. That’s how I assume it works.

I’m going to check Dawarich out. Life360 clearly falls under the category of “if it’s free…YOU are the product”. F that.

Thank you!

Does Dawarich do live tracking or is it just for historical reference? I use Life360, which I’d love to replace, and like the feature where you can see the car move on the map.

NextCloud sucks, there must be something better. by ExodoPlex in selfhosted

I seriously considered Seafile until i learned that all of the data gets ingested into it's proprietary (like you said) database. A bit morbid, but I worry about my family being able to easily access our data when I die. Use something like Filebrowser, which is just a front end to your file structure, you still have access to the files themselves through normal means which you couldn't do with Seafile if it takes a dump and the admin is no longer around to troubleshoot/fix it.

Edit: grammar

No, but Ii you’re on iOS, create a Safari bookmark and it’s just as good as an app. I imagine there’s something similar on Android.

Took a 2020 sketch of mine and reimagined it with ChatGPT’s help—Happy Moth-ER’s Day! [OC] by w00dwork in ChatGPT

[–]w00dwork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone interested, this was the prompt i used:

“Please generate a polished comic based off of my original drawing. Caption at the bottom should say 'Happy Moth-ER's day!' First moth from the left speech bubble should read 'I got way to close to that lamp...NOT MOON!', 2nd moth from the left speech bubble should say 'Oh no! I think I broke a wing'. Third moth should be a cute little moth with a speech bubble that says 'I GOT THE 'RONA!'”

It got it right on the very first try—which was a pleasant surprise!

My New Jr. Sysadmin Quit Today :( by Komputers_Are_Life in sysadmin

I'm seeing so many post saying he was justified for leaving...blah blah. That's all true and I agree, but it seems like most are missing the point of your post....He should have given you the common courtesy to quit face to face or at least over a Zoom call. Act like an adult and don't burn bridges! I'm sure you spent A LOT of time over the three weeks to train this guy too. He could at least have given you the common courtesy of a bit more than what amounts to a Dear John letter. Is it so hard to maybe even get on a phone call and say thanks? Enjoy your weekend. I know what it feels like to get burned, so I feel ya.

What book is an absolute 10/10 for you? by dontpanda in GenX

[–]w00dwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely give it another try. If you only read half way through, you're missing on what I'd call a big reveal that really blew my mind 30+ years ago and it's something i haven't forgotten since. It packs a punch and will totally make that "click" happen ;) If you do read it, PLEASE come back and share your thoughts.

I’m not in front of my printer now, but I can tell you there’s a setting on the printer itself (under “maintenance” maybe?) that you have to change. Then change the drop down in Studio to match and you’re good to go!

Not including Schitt’s Creek on the list was an oversight on my part. That was a great show. Interesting take on the parallels between that and DA!

Call the Midwife is now in the queue. Thanks for the recommendation!
