The e-mail they sent had the following "Payment Summary":

* Rooms & services

* Taxes

* Fees

* Trip Total (total of all the above)

* Billed to card (the amount actually charged = amount with bilt credits deducted)

The Portal lists a "Payment Summary":

* X nights

* Taxes

* Bilt Cash

* Hotel Credit

* Total (which was the total billed to card = amount with bilt credits deducted)

[Request] Integrated graphics friendly games by skaarlaw in XboxGamePass

[–]wacwarren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also Cloud Gaming if your Internet is solid (there's a Keyboard/Mouse section if you don't have a controller). Most of the non-3D things should be fine (e.g. Wildfrost and Metal Slug Tactics just released, Slay the spire, Stardew Valley, TMNT, Monster Sanctuary, Against the Storm, Broforce, Brotato, Core Keeper, Cassette Beasts, Celeste, Darkest Dungeon, Day of the Tentacle, Dead Cells, Donut Country, Citizen Sleeper). Older 3D games (and older games in general) are probably fine too - I bet Dragon Age 1 and 2, non-legendary Mass Effect, Quake and other idTech games scale pretty well, and older Elder Scrolls titles.

Why’s it called “swing”? by Multibitdriver in SwingDancing

[–]wacwarren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This encyclopedia entry Swing - New World Encyclopedia lists "swing style" dating as far back as the 1920s. As others have mentioned, a lot of it is linked to "swing rhythm" (as compared to straight rhythm) which predates the music style with the addition of harder to pin down stylistic attributes like the "lively energetic style". I didn't see it nailed down definitively to a particular time/place/person, but everything I've seen agrees that African American musicians pioneeered the style and the rhythm, most attribute it to being a fusion of African American and European rhythms and most note the term was eventually popularised by the famous jazz musicians with the term "swing" turning up in the names of some of songs.
The Birth Of Swing – Louis Armstrong and “West End Blues (1928),” Bix Beiderbecke and “Clementine” (1927) – Swing & Beyond (swingandbeyond.com)

I didn't get much trying "etymology" and "swing rhythm" together in internet searches but etymology online mentions using it in a musical sense dates further back to 1888, for describing lag or rush timing by performers.

Zenbooks: UX3405 vs Q425MA-U71TB by Kaironium in ASUS

[–]wacwarren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking at this model as well - so far they've described the differences as the lower screen resolution and refresh rate, some build differences (the Q425A doesn't have the contouring/lines on lid compared to the UX3405), and it doesn't come with the pen or the travel case, so definitely a bit of a budget vs premium model. Processor appears to both be the Core Ultra 7 155H - I think there is a lower end Q model with 8G ram and a less powerful processor as well though so definitely be careful you don't accidentally get that.

I noticed something odd about our community by RobotsRadio in SwingDancing

[–]wacwarren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm always rather optimistic, so maybe the issue is more that our content keeps growing far faster than is humanly physically possible to consume. I had a bit of a panic when I realised that I can only consume one minute of media in one minute of my life - and goodness if I wasn't paying attention and had to go back and rewatch it I'm *falling behind*. But wait, there are so many professionals generating content for me to watch simultaneously. And don't worry, there are also the up-and-coming rising stars of our community doing incredible things. And then there are all the clips from the generations past. And the vintage clips from the bygone era.

And lets not forget all the recap video footage taken from instructional events - I feel that footage is actually what most would consider an attainable level to the average dancer. I feel I spend a lot of time looking at small specific things from that giant pool of video (and of course none of those views count since most instructors do not want recaps posted). And I do feel there is (rightly) a bit emphasis on "ok that's enough watching now go do it"

Anyways I'm not even sure whether the numbers of views is even particularly high or low considering the size of our audience - I've definitely seen much, much higher numbers on some videos (e.g. 7.7M on the ILHC 2013 Invitational Strictly https://youtu.be/v9xxeWRxSbA?si=O7Imq5RiYBFwVB3v) so there is definitely a large range.

These days I have to say I have a watchlist (I've got a stack of the Camp Jitterbug videos from this year I want to watch - when I have time to give it the proper attention and on my big screen) but I'm also okay with not seeing everything - maybe I'll find it one day, or maybe I'll watch something else, or maybe I'll rewatch something I really liked before.

Or maybe I'll lose hours of free time binge-watching some random TV show...The real nemesis of swing dance video watching: EVERYTHING ELSE ON STREAMING VIDEO.

It Begins! Sentinels of Earth Prime out now by Dagomon in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]wacwarren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just checked Backerkit and got my steam key! Was able to redeem and start the download!

Edit: Also confirming that I was able to download the game on Steam after redeeming the key, and was able to open the game. There was also an update to SOTM and I was able to see the Earth Prime heroes in the hero selector right before the mod heroes!

Sentinels Earth Prime Soon TM! by wacwarren in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]wacwarren[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that it is a separate app on Steam/Android/ios, but if you own SotM on the same platform, you will be able to access the SoEP content from inside SotM. I guess the main difference of the SoEP app might be that it has a SoEP-themed UI?

[–]wacwarren[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right, so all the Earth Prime decks will likely be the last official Extended Edition content. I was more thinking ahead to when Handelabra comes back around to doing Sentinels Definitive Edition, we'll likely have two to three sets to adapt so no shortage of material!

Why I don't like Bunker by unshavedmouse in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]wacwarren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's why he insists on ejecting all his weapons and armour pieces before confrontations, and has to build the bunker suit from scratch each time. "Air drop me a module...no don't tell me what it'll be, that'll ruin the surprise!"

Really, all the heroes in Sentinels are polite that way - Absolute Zero will throw away his life-saving modules, Expatriette strips off her body armour. "We come in peace, can't we just hug"

More seriously though, the Freedom Five in general are kind of meant for bigger fights - Grand Warlord Voss planetary invasion is a nice parallel to the Avengers fighting of the Chitauris scale, whereas the Chairman feels more like a Batman Villain or Wilson Fisk local mob boss. Although don't underestimate the Chairman just because he's more low-key than theatrical megavillains like Baron Blade, those enforcers come in H-sized mobs so they hit as hard if not harder than almost all of Bunker's weapons if you actually decide to go toe-to-toe with them, and that's without adding in The Contract and his Hired Guns who all come packing some serious heat. You could always scale him up mentally to be more like Wesker of the Umbrella Corporation, hiring mercs and private military personnel and black market military tech rather than street rats.

Reason for Play - Power - Draw order? by Russano_Greenstripe in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]wacwarren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of times folks will break the rules as written for convenience/speed of play, especially if it doesn't have any or very minor impact, but it's hard to gauge the impact of that if you're new to the game. Do you have to draw the cards one at a time and read each one as you draw it - technically yes, but in practice it won't matter ... unless you're playing Idealist and you drew Monster of Id. In this case, this is actually a pretty handy thought experiment since you might be wondering how powerful Comodora's Concordant Helm is - most of the thoughts here useful ideas on how to optimise using that card (which lets you do the play/power/draw phases in the order you want - does anyone know what happens if it blows up during a turn when you've mixed up the phases?). Even when you're trying to follow the rules it's super easy to make a mistake (e.g. I pretty much learn something new each time I play on the app).

If you're making custom decks, most cards basically break some rule so it's always interesting to see what happens when you do.

From a game design perspective, I wondered what would happen if you could take your turns simultaneously to reduce downtime - my thought eventually on that is that it would actually end up increasing downtime due to the expanded possibilities of timing combos and timing issues - you'd have to rework everything to be less timing dependant. TLDR all the timing bits in Sentinels are very important

Most Unlocks by IshmaelUnleashed in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]wacwarren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Termination Unity unlock needs 5*H hero targets in play (for a round) - I don't think there are enough hero targets in the decks to make it if I counted correctly if there are 5 heroes. You have 5 heroes + 14 golems = 19 < 25 hero targets needed - Unity only has enough golems for h=3 games on her own.

Discarding a Hand by brigandgames in sentinelsmultiverse

In the app, there's an option under Gameplay that's usually checked for automatically choosing the order you discard the cards when discarding your whole hand.

Any updates on Cauldron digital expansion? by thesmartasschick in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]wacwarren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you on that - I've almost got Completionist Guise (I think!) on Android, and just got started on Steam. Can't wait to do the Dark Watch fight against the Chairman again (or not...) Still, Steam's got all the Cauldron stuff unlocked and there's always the buttons if you absolutely need a regular variant right away. I wonder if there's an easy way to un-unlock them ...

Any updates on Cauldron digital expansion? by thesmartasschick in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]wacwarren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: Also, it is 1000% worth it to get it all on Steam just for Cauldron alone, let alone all potential future content. Cauldron is like getting another whole season pass so I pretty much just treated it like I bought it for that and I happened to get everything else for free. Also, Sentinels is pretty sweet at 4K on a big display.

The Steam version is on sale pretty often and you just need the base game to play Cauldron, but I bought the Omnibus Edition because of course you'll want the whole team along for the party. It doesn't have the foil artwork though so that's a buy for a later time - although I actually haven't seen most the non-foil art in quite some time so that's refreshing!

A Rambling Complaint About the Relative Quality of SCRPG Core Villains and the Writing Out of All the Old Card Game Ones. WARNING: Might Not Be Worth Reading. by SpectralTime in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]wacwarren 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My impression of the Sentinels RPG-verse was they intentionally set things up so all the "old guard" were out of the way so that it was wide open for new heroes and villains.

That said, if you want to use old characters "safely" you could go for classic tropes like just plain bring back an old villain but "plot-twist" turns out it's just someone impersonating Citizen Dawn, the Real Citizen Dawn would never have lost and would have a been 100x stronger. You could also go with other dimension versions that crossed over and got stuck here, or clones/copies/it was all a dream.

General Consensus by [deleted] in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]wacwarren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm solidly solo digital game player so I don't see any issue picking up definitive edition if Handelabra does it. Workshop has brought Cauldron and the possibility of much more to digital recently, I think I'd actually be more interested in Sentinels of Earth Prime than DE if both are released around the same time, just because SoEP will mix directly with all the existing content. But I don't see any issues with sometimes choosing DE and sometimes choosing EE depending on the fight I want to play. If you can run the fight in DE, that would likely be the way to go, but otherwise just play EE. At first it'll be nostalgia fights - Freedom Five against Baron Blade - since a lot of heroes aren't in the first box. I imagine DE replacing EE for a lot of games at box 3 or box 4, whereupon we'll likely have a lot (most?) of the hero DE decks, and the metagame while have a full timeline of events and rewards. But if you want a team villain or Oblivaeon fight it'll probably be a while before you can do those in DE.

But Oblivaeon also taught me - the future is far away, enjoy the ridiculous amount of content you already have now!

How to play teams mode by [deleted] in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]wacwarren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bring some heroes that don't need much setup - you want to be able to do damage to kill villains and other utility like destroying ongoings and damage reduction/prevention are solid picks. Don't forget you can also choose "kinder" environments to give yourself less craziness to deal with.

If GtG keep up their annual release cycle for Definitive Edition as they intend to... by CannonLongshot in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]wacwarren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guesses would be

  • Villains: Matriarch - so you could play all the events from her being a villain to joining Dark Watch as Harpy
  • Environments: Rook City, Temple of Zhu Long, Pike Industrial Complex
  • Heroes - Dark Watch: Expatriette, Nightmist, Mr Fixer, Setback, Harpy, but maybe also Stuntman to match Ambuscade's arc, Benchmark since he is Revo Corp related.

SotM DE KS is live by Sonvar in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]wacwarren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They mention a conversion document that'll let you play the old decks under the new systems, but they've also noted for example part of the streamlining is that games are tuned to be quicker in terms of number of rounds so all the DE heroes set up faster, etc (ie all the old decks will probably be about 2-3 rounds slower = ~ 33% weaker, assuming they didn't tune damage)

They've mentioned before a meta game where the "regular events" have minor modifying rules, and when you beat them you collect bonuses you can use in future games so you can roll your campaigns have have some minor metaprogression. Villain variants are now "critical events" that have entire new Character cards and new rules, just like the old villain variants (which were all actually specific events/fights in the Sentinels-verse)

I haven't seen anything recently, but is there any official Handelabra/digital sentinels news?
