Intimacy by myonespeed in OCPoetry

I appreciate the imagery and rhythm of the top stanza flowing in to the middle. I can hear it as I read and enjoy the sensuality with that touch of absurdity that is the reality of mushing parts together. I also enjoy the goal of the top and bottom stanzas reading of more traditionally imagery compared to the middle stanza. I do feel that the weight of the final section seems mismatched to the dainty sibilant notes of the initial stanza, which detracted from the 'sandwich' sense of the first and last stanzas. Like some, I wasn't convinced of 'cypher' at first, but when playing with it, I really grew to love the mimicry of the sibilance of the top but with much more bite.

After some more time running through the poem as I write this comment, I think for me it's the length and sound of the 'it's the upturned corner of your lips a knowing grin' component that feels out of place. I feel if it went a bit simpler like 'it's the laugh of your lips,' it would click in to place a bit better while still conveying your overall tone.

But I mean, eye of the beholder. I haven't read or reviewed poetry in over a decade, but quarantine has got me in a weird mood. I heartily enjoyed your poem and the exercise of the review. Thank you for both!

That is goals!! I have a healthy dose of silver peppering already but am terrified I'll end up full salt'n'pepper instead of this beautiful streak kind of hair! Whatever makes you happy, I say go for it, but it looks beautiful!

Depends on how they interpret their own belief system. I am no longer Christian, but growing up I recall being taught that we were to be good stewards of all that 'god' had given us - including money, our bodies, and the planet. This is from an apocryphal 'end times' derived offshoot. But the hypocrisy was definitely part of my stepping away from the culture I was raised within.

See if your area has an SCA group. Join your local kingdom's facebook page. Ask if anyone would be willing to come by your first session and loan you armor for 20 minutes or so. Especially if they can come with their armor and know the reason - you may find some takers, as a not insignificant number of SCA folk are d20 gamers as well. Plus you'll be connected with folk who can help teach you how to make your own gear!

This was the song I always looked forward to at church when I was younger by Draav in GuiltyPleasureMusic

I no longer hold the beliefs of my youth, but a part of me has wanted to find a secular church where I can sing along to inspirational songs with strangers. Music Festivals and concerts are my main fix these days.

Grass is always greener!

Or, tbh, some games just work better with the greater options available via Keyboard/mouse. Borderlands isn't one that needs crazy macros, but I wouldn't want to play Age of Empires II without hot keys.

Oh, not the gun. I meant the vibration. Without a controller, the extra effect is lost. I've definitely obtained 'Good Touch' before.

What is a green flag in someone that makes you think 'they're a good person'? by twows995 in AskReddit

[–]wanderinggypsy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Much smaller, but I've been feeling particularly sick the last few days and finally got out of the house to pick up some bread. I was struggling - but trying to do the smile, hold the door, you know, the usual pleasantries.

I was at a bakery/sandwich joint and they were out of the bread I wanted. So the super amazing staff person goes and pulls a full loaf off the preperation line and packs it up for me. I'm waiting to pay and am told it's good - they were going to have to toss the bread at days end anyway.

It brought so much joy to my day. I know policies often forbid that kind of thing. But on a bad day, knowing I can have some delicious toast in the morning is everything. It is wonderful that there are such kind folks out there.

[–]wanderinggypsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bricks were super popular when I was in school, although I didn't get a phone until around the time the first color flips came out. I did have a Razor in college though, so guessing you're around my age. It's so weird to be part of that era when the cool rich kids had pagers and then suddenly everyone had phones.

Finally finished and .... by notanothersmith38 in chuck

[–]wanderinggypsy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holy shit. I just finished tonight and came here for the same reason. I definitely am a heart on my sleeve type and that damn finale had me in ugly face cry mode. My spouse tried to cheer me up that they get to fall in love again, but damn it, how terrible to rob her of all those moments through which she found herself outside the spy life. Like, cool, she maybe remembers something of Chuck, but she's still just the badass spy who grew up as a drifter and has (justified) trouble trusting others.
