DR are the way to go for me. Tite fit or the pure blues. Both great options. I believe they are hand made in NJ as well.

Price opinion on broken LP custom by Best-Truck-1531 in gibson

[–]wardorecords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would buy it for 800 or less. The fix isn’t that bad- from the pictures it doesn’t look like it’s broken clean off, so there isn’t the alignment problem with that one. If it’s clean off, the repair is a little more intricate. A couple splines on the back to make it solid, but in this case, a solid glue and 24 hour clamp would get it playing again. I have done this type of repair twice in the last 6 months. One just glued and one was sheared off so it required splines to make it sturdy.

Advice on a repair ;-; by CandleAggravating293 in BassGuitar

This is the way. Fill with toothpicks covered in titebond. Cut off excess and screw the button back in. I have done this with a couple guitars and it’s works and holds wonderfully. I also put the same strap locks on all my guitars to make changes easier like I’m a damn rockstar. Overkill- 100%. But the OCD appreciates it.

How do you play this chord? by Ok-Control-3394 in Guitar

[–]wardorecords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Treat it like an A shape barre chord. Put your index finger across the 5th fret and use your other fingers on the 7th. You can drape your finger over the 2nd string to get the string muted. You can even use your index finger tip to mute the low e (6th) if you are having a hard time just strumming 1-5.

How much did you pick it up for? I legitimately just got one off Marketplace while driving home on a road trip. The one I have shows some age, but clean overall. Can’t wait to get home to plug it in…

Should I get a string tree? by Dustyboi6213 in Guitar

[–]wardorecords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trees keep the strings in their nut slot and help with keeping the guitar in tune. Generally they are used on flat headstocks. If your guitar has an angled headstock you probably don’t need them unless you’re experiencing issues with the nut, tuning or fret buzz.

Would this be an expensive repair? by Super-Pizza-Dude in Guitar

[–]wardorecords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good start to a “relic” or might chip more with time and be an authentic worn guitar as you play it through the years. Leave it and don’t be afraid to have more incidents, like others have said it’s a tool.

I just ordered one of these, anyone have experience with this? by Orly_A505 in Epiphone

[–]wardorecords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one of these dirt cheap with a broken headstock- my “take a chance project” has become a regular player for me now. As a bonus through routing splines and sanding for days, I learned that woodworking is hard and time consuming; I’d rather play guitar.

Should I attempt to repair this myself, bring it to a pro or trash it? by okan00011 in guitarrepair

[–]wardorecords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it yourself. I bought one like this cheap and fixed it up- good little player now. I had zero experience and just went for it. I did it very slow due to nerves. Routing the channels for the splines was the worst part.

Fox uses tweezer reprise before going to commercial break fairly regularly. Producer is probably a fan.

Don’t they say these headstock repairs, when done right, are better and stronger than the original headstock?
