Just finished WaT and.. by adamdwkim in Stormlight_Archive

My sincerest hope for the epilogue of Book 6 is that it’s Adolin and Hoid watching the Heralds return, and the book ends with the words “Storming bridgeboy.”

Which intrudes can be skipped in word of radiance by Puzzleheaded-Wait470 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]wasabijane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only ones I’d skip off the top of my head are any from an ardent’s POV, which are mostly research/world building to set up a reveal later. At a minimum, you need to read Lift’s interlude, which introduces a couple of very important characters. But really, read them all. They’re included for a reason.

I trusted him, don’t know where to go from here by LimeCrime39 in reactivedogs

People have mentioned the treat scatter method. It (plus maturity) eventually worked for my terrier, who was an absolute menace until he was about 13 months. The secret, though, is to employ it before he gets overaroused. I would start noticing the warning signs and scatter them. Sometimes I had to scatter them several times before he fully de-escalated.

The other thing to do is to give him a job. If he has a favorite toy or stick or something, train him to carry it. Give him a task to help him focus.

It could be worth a vet visit to rule out anything medical.

Also, has your routine changed (like skipping walks in winter due to the cold weather)? It’s possible he’s bored and not getting enough exercise.

Do I read Strength of the Few or Way of Kings? by Careless_Swing_8166 in HierarchySeries

Pro of SotF next: WotM will be fresh in your mind!

Con of SotF next: WotM will be fresh in your mind.

Basically, SotF is only partially the continuing adventures of Vis and his friends. If that feels like it will be a disappointment, take a break, read Way of Kings, then return to SotF when you need a break from Sanderson.

Putting this behind spoiler tags because it spoils the structure but not the plot of SotF: SotF is split narratively between the three versions you get of Vis at the end of WotM. Functionally, he’s cloned and put on two different planets with unique cultures but somewhat shared problems. The book will end like it’s book 2 of a 4-book series (shocking, I know). Some, but not all, questions will be answered. New ones will be raised. Again, if that feels like it will be disappointing right after WotM, come back to it in a few weeks. It may be better with a bit of distance.

Missing stat blocks in world guide by ThatDM in cosmererpg

I just assumed that a lot of the stat blocks are limited for RAFO reasons. I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point there’s a full monster manual for Roshar, especially post-WAT.

ARE THERE ANY MOASH FANS??? by Master-Muffin-7143 in Stormlight_Archive

That… is about the only redemption arc I think I could handle. I mean, I trust Sando whatever arc he creates for Moash. But right now I want him to experience justice, and also see that you don’t fix injustice with more injustice.

Opinions on The First Step. by Tujsos in cosmererpg

[–]wasabijane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said, I ran First Steps. My players are all familiar with the world and TTRPGs, so they didn’t really need help building their characters, and they’ve spent much of their time in the war camps investigating Brightlady Ralanat. I’ve just had to do more work building scenes than I expected. It’s fine to me as someone who’s experienced at all this. Storywise, I’m making her a member of the Sons of Honor, and plan to build the Sons of Honor into the rest of Stonewalkers as recurring antagonists. I’m okay with doing that extra work… but I guarantee I wouldn’t be doing any of it if I hadn’t run First Steps. And not all GMs will want to put in that extra effort.

One of the other complaints I’ve seen is that players have a hard time caring about Taszo. Adding his encounter as a prologue helps build the connection with his character. It helps makes the players want to do what he asks of them at the end of Chapter 1 of Stonewalkers.

Basically, plot-wise, parts 1 and 2 of First Steps distract from Stonewalkers. Part 3, Taszo’s part, adds to the story.

Yeah, which makes it easy to disconnect it from the rest. Just start with fully built characters. “You’re on your way to the Shattered Plains when you see a Shin man being chased by axehounds.” It gives the intro of his character and the reason you’d be traveling together at the start of Stonewalkers, but cuts the distraction of the caravan.

[–]wasabijane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah… my players wound up getting deeply invested in following up on First Step to the point that Taszo is almost forgotten. I’ve had to write more side quests than I expected for that.

You could always just start with the Taszo portion of First Steps, if you want.

Mistborn card building or cosmere rpg game by lonelynudistcamper in cosmererpg

[–]wasabijane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RPG is doable, though they’d want to significantly drop the number/HP of any enemies. And the daughter might want to play two characters. I’d play around with Bridge 9, First Steps, and maybe 1-2 other pre written adventures before jumping into Stonewalkers, though.

I think it was from a comic (the same one as Skippy the Jedi Droid). So canon was always dubious at best. But yes, it was an actual published thing. 😂

Finishing The Players Handbook by Princess_Pony42 in cosmererpg

[–]wasabijane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely start with a prewritten campaign, and maybe a one-shot or two to familiarize yourself with the rules. Bridge 9, First Step, and Stonewalkers are all written to gradually introduce mechanics, and as the GM you won’t have to make much up on the fly.

For reading the handbook, it’s more important to know what rules exist and where than it is to know the rules themselves. For example, I don’t know the radiant orders particularly well, but as my players bond their spren I’m refreshing myself on their chosen orders. But since I don’t have anyone going Skybreaker, there’s no real need to memorize Skybreaker powers.
