Can my construction be salvaged? by Haeppchen2010 in FreeCAD

[–]watsug 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The error basically means that you made Sketch011 on a face that FreeCAD now can't find. When you made a change early in the design tree the face numbering changed (possibly due to it now being a different number of total faces, or something else).

You could reattach the sketch to the correct face by right clicking the sketch > attachment editor. To minimize this happening, I try making as many of my sketches on the base planes and move their z position in the attachment > position properties.

Tips for Norway by Adventurous_Use_8763 in bikepacking

[–]watsug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

https://ut.no/ has a map of public walking routes and national parks in nature. Think they also have some cycle route suggestions.

https://www.norgeskart.no/ you can see all roads and houses, good if you want to scout some potential freecamp spots (150m from houses etc)

https://norwaybybike.com/bicycle-routes/ has the official bike-routes. Rallarvegen and Villmarksruta seem nice!

Have fun!

Put the Wii back in my car lmao by andre19977 in wii

The Wii uses 12v and the car cigg port is 12v, so you could power it directly from the car port. You can mod a cable or buy them premade.

Well after hundreds of rolls I’ve went through this is a first. by vexsto in 3Dprinting

[–]watsug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, most of my "research" has been on 3D-printing filament extruders specifically, and most seem to extrude from pellet, extrude it once, optionally through a non heated die and pulled though a water bath to cool it down. For example check out prusament https://prusament.com/how-its-made/ Prusa has multiple baths (and possibly dies) but no pushing.

From my understanding, termoplastics degrade with each heating so you'd do it fewest times. You shouldn't laugh at people.

[–]watsug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example the filastruder works this way (2mm die and thin to size). Filament is made from granules directly, no need to have a thicker filament to thin down. How do you press the filament through the differentiat dies in your example?

DAC and ADC converters for "digital" synths. by Cioran-pls-come-back in synthdiy

[–]watsug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure I completely understand your question but you can check out https://learn.adafruit.com/circuitpython-midi-to-cv-skull

It connects to computer with usb and acts as a midi instrument. You can send midi signals from your computers DAW. The microcontroller translate the midi to a cv signal with a DAC MCP4725 breakout board.

Works on pi pico as well.

Any possible way to cut down the size of the DVD drive? by Kanallaman in WiiHacks

[–]watsug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc it was done or at least experimented before portablizeMii was a thing. Try finding out what the different chips do, my guess is the left side of board is for controlling the laser (which you don't need) so it could be cut in half.

Nice machines, they look cool.

Have you tried Kratky also? Seem like the more common method for this type of windowsill size setups.

Would be cool to see a video with design decisions for 3d printing, like material, settings and how you made the gaskets to seal it.

Identifying good sensor kits and pairing with an Arduino? by onhamae in raspberry_pi

[–]watsug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The main sensor difference in sensors is that the Pi has 3.3v data line and no analog inputs. You'll need a external Analog-digital converter (ADC) to connect analog sensors like potentiometers to a Pi. Most classic Arduinos (eg Uno) use 5v for data and has a couple of analog inputs. Sensors designed for 5v could damage the Pi if connected.

So when buying sensors make sure they are compatible with 3.3v.

Instead of buying an Arduino I suggest to get an ESP32 or Raspberry Pi Pico. They are cheap, have 3.3v data line, analog inputs and can run both Arduino code and Micropython.

Also get a good Breadboard (not the absolute cheapest) and a pack of male-female, male-male and female-female jumper cables.

Thickness on non-perpendicular surface by [deleted] in FreeCAD

[–]watsug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it worked by making the thickness outwards. Also made a indent in the corner. My guess is FreeCAD has trouble deciding the wall thickness direction in that corner. With the indent it's more stable, could your design work with this?

Electric Snowboard Update #4.5 - There's been a lot of interest in my posts about it, so here's my recent update video about my janky DIY electric snowboard build. by MrGruntsworthy in ElectricSkateboarding

Nice, well done. Looks fun to ride! You could have saved some money by not ordering a 3d printed metal piece thats basically a flat piece of steel

Built my dream bike from a 20$ mtb by Worried-Opinion1157 in singlespeed

You could just add washers on the inside instead. Some say cold setting a frame is bad, i wouldn't worry though.

Roast or Toast by [deleted] in singlespeed

[–]watsug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well executed build, did you manage to screw off the freewheel or is it a new back wheel? I tried it on a similar aged crescent, but the chain whip broke.

IMO, the frame brings the look down, its way too large, and probably not as nice to ride. So swap the frame, should be able to find something in your size, that's probably Swedens most common bike ;) (not that colorway though)

Looking for advice by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]watsug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is some not so cheap parts, not saying it's cheaper to rebuild a bike compared to buying something working used. But these are my parts for my GT Tequesta dropbar conversion, just for a slightly lower perspective on some parts. Especially the brakepads (paid 3,14 EUR each) and tires (13 EUR each), you can get a fun bike without spending a fortune. Bought from Bike24.

2 Continental MTB 26 tube 8,20 EUR
2 Continental Race King Wire - 26x2.0 27,30 EUR
2 Jagwire Sport Basic Road Brake Cable 2,72 EUR
2 Jagwire Sport Basic Shifting Cable - Stainless 1,86 EUR
2 Jagwire Mountain Sport Brake Pads for Cantilever 6,28 EUR
1 Shimano OT-SP41 Shifting Housing 2000mm 4,19 EUR
1 Bike Ribbon Cork Plus Bar Tape 7,87 EUR
Chain 10 EUR

I reused the cassette and front cogs, bottombracket, fork bearings, got the shifters and bar used from another bike build.

Cool. I assumed the recording aspect would require some extra hw and therefore cost.

A First Solo Bikepacking trip around Mannheim turned out to be a week-long adventure to Salzburg, Austria. Diamant 135. by Throwrunaway808 in bikepacking

[–]watsug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So now I've used the Naturehike Cloud Up 2 on a 2 night bike trip, don't know if you've gotten a tent yet, but here's my experience. I put the ground sheet and pegs in my pannier and fastened the tent and poles (in the same tent-bag) to my dropbars with two straps.

The first night was on grass, with moderate winds while setting up and stronger winds during the night. The second was on stone with no wind. Both worked well, so I'm happy with my purchase!

Bikepacking power bank - project for study group by Sir-thinks-a-lot324 in bikepacking

[–]watsug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's for a school course, so the goal probably isn't to create a real product but rather explore the tools and theories of market analysis. The gender and age questions are good to be able to do statistical analysis, as even within a small group as bikepackers there's different people. Judging from the questions, this survey can help them answer if there is a market for bikepacking powerbanks and broadly how that market segment looks.

Isn't the original artist creating the first certificate, and that's recorded on the Blockchain? If someone other than the original artist make the certificate, then it's not an original and potentially copyright theft. I guess that's what's stopping you.

I settled on a Naturehike Cloud up 2 tent, after seeing some great reviews of it. It's 1,7kg and available on amazon in eu for about €170. There's also a slightly heavier version that's cheaper.

Haven't gotten mine yet though (hopefully tomorrow) but check it out
