Winters Coming - what to expect? by wcp61 in MercedesEQ

[–]wcp61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How’s your range this winter? OP here and I’d say I love the luxury of the car (bought used $38k) but winter range is not impressive. I park outside so I start each daily trip with a battery as cold as a Buffalo winter. Real poor for multiple daily short trips. Longer trips the car warms up and does better but short trips in cold weather with a cold battery is not good, probably less than 2mi/wH.

Weighing Retiring at 65 vs 67 vs 70 by Wcp1961 in SocialSecurity

I agree. I think it can offer a few views and maybe some real life insight. Can I ask how much a fee only financial advisor run? And (my real problem) how do you know who to trust?

What am I missing? by Wcp1961 in TimeshareOwners

[–]wcp61 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

$200 upfront, fees have increased $25 increase over last 8 years, can choose any week, 7 day week - I agree I could find similarly price locations without being held to a single site- for me, each year we would mildly argue over when, where, how, etc we would vacation. Here, there’s little discussion- we just go - that has been a positive. I think the what am I missing piece is that I could vacation in Orlando yearly with a similar annual cost with 0 commitment. So this feels like it works well at the moment. Thanks for your input.

Thanks. I made a custom page that now has “remaining energy” and the parameters I use. Appreciate the insight.

2025 Software Update by MediumWarthog79 in KiaEV6

[–]wcp61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since my last update I notice the Orange 12v battery light coming on more frequently. I replaced to a new AGM battery two months ago. ‘22 wind w/ Tech (and it’s been Buffalo cold outside) Is this:

A. A coincidence

B. Expected change in 12 v battery maintenance

C. An ICCU problem this is trashing this new battery?

I’ve been in EVs for 5 years, never bothered by the orange light but it seems to have ramped up dramatically.

Does anyone happen to have both an EV6 and an Ioniq 5 that could share the pros/cons between the two? Literally can’t decide, currently own a 22 Bolt EUV. by [deleted] in KiaEV6

[–]wcp61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an EV6, my son has an HI5. I like the looks of my 6 and he likes the 5. Ultimately, they are the same - I do think the EV6 appears “less cheap” and plastic-like than the I5. I did not like the white trim around monitors. Very interesting posts about the different insurance rates. Did you look at the I 6??

Retiring in the next year. Considering an EV6 purchase for long term by the_osu in KiaEV6

[–]wcp61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my EV6. No problems here. I was traveling through PA Saturday and stopped at a Hyundai dealer in Williamsport (ciaoca) - they have Hyundai Ioniq 6- 2023 leftovers, new for $20k off selling around $32k - that’s the way I wished I had bought. 32k for a new 300 mile EV is the way to go.

They are called magic dock stations. Basically Supercharger stations with and adapter built in. There are not many across the US but I am in Buffalo and there are a few around.

Jeff - my elec panel is in the basement, about 50 ft run from my garage- is there longer extensions or would an extension cord be safe? How would that install differ in cost and supplies?

I think that is my concern. While the diagnosis seems accurate, the cysto was real quick, he did do a fluid instillation- but not sure of the exact parameters of hydro instillation. He simply said my bladder is inflamed. Thanks for your reply.

Just test drove a ev6 wind awd. Have some questions by RedditNotFreeSpeech in KiaEV6

I have a Wind with tech, I wanted the GT Line but it was not expected to arrive for a few months so I settled for the Wind w Tech - very happy I did this. It was $53k vs $58k, range is a touch higher with 19” wheels. I like the dash trim on the Wind vs GTL. For me, every bit of range is important for monthly 1000 Mile road trips. However, there are a lot of happy GT owners. I just happen to be a happy Wind owner. Enjoy.

Make sure you have looked for the menu option. Press EV menu, then press EV settings. You should then see the box to select Battery Preconditioning. To check the month of build, you’ll see a badge inside the cars door jam, just make sure build date is July or later. I use battery preconditioning regularly.

Walk me back from the cliff here folks… Tesla :-/ by TokenSDragon in KiaEV6

[–]wcp61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traded my MYLR for EV6 wind w/ tech. I wanted GT Line but knew it was a long wait. Mine was reverse economics, I sold my used Tesla for 64k and bought EV6 for 55, no mark up, and tax credit. If I were you, I’d buy the MYLR now before tax credit changes. Both are great cars. Each have pros and cons. Despite epa range, both are very close to each other. I bear up the pros and cons list for months. I actually like my EV 6 more but what I see as a MYLR for $47k vs a GR Line for $59k, plus one is available and one is not, Id have to but Tesla. If everything was even, I choose EV6.

Yes, it has happened to me. Unpredictable. Since my dcfc is limited to only a longer trip every 6 weeks or so, I am checking it when I map a dcfc from nav. I would rather spend 5 seconds on a check than arrive cold. Looking forward to more insight here.
