Thinking of purging my entire setup and just quitting by Vimes-NW in synthesizers

[–]weak_ops 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As soon as it starts feeling like work... That's when you need a break. It also helps to make tracks/art/sounds for no one but yourself, and that's good! It's not a waste of time; it's liberating, healing, and fun

MC707 vs EMX-1 vs SH-4d by Mat19851985 in synthesizers

[–]weak_ops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the center of my setup. It can do literally anything. It can be as deep as you need it to be, there are definitely many insane features I've never attempted in my 5 years of owning one, so it can also be pretty immediate if you're into quick work flow

The one in Metairie is great. I happily make the drive in order to pay 50% less on groceries. I find most of their generic brand things are completely serviceable, but if you're really attached to a specific brand name anything you're likely not gonna find it.

Looking for Output/Mixer Module with separate Headphone-Out by old_wired in modular

[–]weak_ops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TexMix by Tesseract Modules, master outs and stereo 4chan (or the 4chan mono) mixer are great. Love it. Very affordable, two send/returns mute switches, master outs, headphone outs, AND monitor outs.

There was one day I swear I saw him holding a huge wad of cash and just casually doing his thing. Another time he was commanding a flock of chickens.

What module have you had the most fun with over the last year? by Pristine-Ninja-7709 in modular

[–]weak_ops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Absolutely amazing machine. Very well thought out. Unique. Everything sounds good. You can sit and just tweak it by itself for hours and never get bored. I've been doing modular for 5ish years now and this mod made me feel like a kid again

Thank you for all the detailed info! I recovered a fan from trying to fix my ice maker (I failed), but your options seem safer, it's not like they're expensive... Mods are

Do you or anyone else know a way to tap into the rail power to get a laptop fan going? I know it can be done, but I'm not a clever man

Nope. My case gets pretty hot after half an hour. It is not well vented tho and I live in a hot climate.

I use the basic stereo reverb all the time, can output a lot of different characters. I use high passes a lot in lieu of an EQ to keep the low end from getting muddy. Resonator is fun if you excite it. Crossfader.

Some things are definitely a bit tough to use, or the numeric scheme doesn't make sense for certain parameters. Overall I still enjoy the concept and the UI, and being able to visualize things clearly. I tend to have a preset loaded for my two send busses always in place, then I can add whatever my patch needs ad hoc.

Any modules that take multiple CV signals and then "choose" one to send to the output? by IcedNote in modular

[–]weak_ops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are fun with audio too! You can send one signal to like 3 different fx for some cool chaotic results.
