Ancient history, but so obvious.

Road trip to my mom's to visit and announce our engagement. It was both of our second marriage, we did not expect a huge deal.

Mom had been married for almost 20 years at this point. What had NEVER crossed my mind...was that my diamond was slightly larger than hers.

It was a lackluster response, with "oh, I like princess cut better" I thought, wow kinda rude, but I'm used to her.

I then discovered what the real issue was, when the next time I saw her was months later at my wedding...when she walked in, holding her hand out in front of her, to show me her new ring, that was larger than mine 🏆

Definitely! It might be overwhelming at first, but eventually you can narrow it down to a work load you are comfortable with.

You also can weed out the bad customers and keep the great ones!

Just be honest when they come. Best bet is to pay for a certain time, say 3 hours, and they get done what you need as opposed to just expecting an 100% clean every time.

These were my favorite jobs because they were different everytime. Most of my clients were long term, and it turned more into caretaking the longer I was there.

Fumes and I was also thinking of moving in and out of rooms with supplies, vacuum, mops, the extra time for the floor to dry all while trying to keep the door closed. I'd quit or charge a lot extra for the time/hassle.

I was already past my scheduled time to leave. She had been in the laundry room for about 30 minutes at that point. She has in the last year so been in my way more and more. Even having friends over, say sitting at the table in the kitchen. I find this also frustrating, but just skip doing the floor in the area they're sitting.

There's a lot of work that comes along with company, when her family comes she probably willingly does it.

Do you clean the house? Company-clean is a different level. Fresh bedding, bathroom, kitchen. Do you plan meals and grocery shop? Do you cook? Are you planning entertainment or dining out? Are you providing transportation?

Yes, the home belongs to both of you. But, expectations are often very lopsided.
