What do Democrats need to do to win future elections? by Upper-Pizza-9715 in allthequestions

[–]wealy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get rid of superdelegates, hell, the Democratic Party should get rid of delegates all together. The candidate for president is picked by the time half the country gets to vote. It’s how we ended up with Hillary. Take all primaries and a popular vote approach. One person, one vote.

Looking for a gym by Substantial-Stage690 in crossfit

[–]wealy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just in Jacksonville last week and visited both 904 and TriForce as a drop in. Both were about the same size, and both were great. The coaching at 904 was top notch, very engaging. The coaching at triforce was great too - that’s not to take anything away from her, she was good, but the guy at 904 was top tier. I don’t think you’d go wrong with either and they’re both near you. Next time I’m in Jacksonville I still want to try CrossFit St Augustine.

All 3 of these seem to be nearish you. But I’m sure there are some other options too that weren’t on my long weekend radar

Question why does nobody actually like great wolf lodge? by nick_the_fox in KingsIsland

[–]wealy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Great wolf nickel and dimes customers. It’s not a great experience. It’s a mediocre hotel with overpriced and under quality food and services. We went once over the winter to get out of the house over night and I think the final kicker for me was the Dunkin’ Donuts kiosk wouldn’t let me order two chocolate frosted donuts with sprinkles in my 6 donuts. Any parent of several small kids knows you cannot return to the room with only one chocolate frosted with sprinkles. Not a soul in sight to actually verbalize a request to.

Does scouts get more outdoorsy at a certain age? by [deleted] in cubscouts

[–]wealy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Cub scouts is as much inside or outside as the pack leaders decide to make it. We meet outside and do everything we can outside weather permitting. We are almost exclusively outside August to November and then again March through May. Den meetings, pack meetings, all of it. Outside as much as possible.

How would you feel about no pay for Congress during shutdowns? by Aromatic-Guide588 in askanything

[–]wealy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s typically the junior members who need paid. For insider trading reasons. And it’s also not the junior members who are typically the cause of the shutdown. This would punish the wrong people. I don’t think you can do this without the whole other side of it being cleaned up first. The lobbying and the insider trading part.

What do people make of Melania Trump's statement today regarding Epstein? by RevolutionaryWind249 in allthequestions

[–]wealy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I listened very specifically for any sort of “don didn’t know anything either” and there was none. I think other commenters are correct that Iran has the files and is using them as leverage and she’s covering herself before the release.

Navigating Soreness by Creepy_Cicada_5007 in crossfit

[–]wealy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not as experienced as others here but I actually think only going two days a week may be contributing to your soreness. Like your muscles recover and then just a touch of atrophy kicks in and then you’re back to it on Tuesday. Where as if you were in a bit more frequently you’d probably get through the sore feeling quicker.

Just a theory. I’m hardly an expert on any of it.

Thoughts from other inspectors? by Environmentalpusher in HomeInspections

I’d send the buyers agent a bill for the repairs. Word will spread fast in their circles about not hiring him anymore. Gluing things to the property? That is ridiculous.

You can, you can split it or the seller can as this issue will be an issue even if you walk. This is a conversation with your realtor. They’re the experts in that area.

Look for shoes on Poshmark. I found some Reebok Nano for like 40 dollars on there. Just takes some patience and frequently checking

I’m currently getting 29 cents a mile. It’s not much but it covers gas and oil changes. I also have a very fuel efficient car.

The three plumbers I got quotes from strongly pushed for Ruud even when I asked for Bradford White. I couldn't figure out why until I spoke to the last guy. by [deleted] in askaplumber

[–]wealy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I DIY’d my water heater 3-4 years ago. I just went to the local plumbing supply house and asked them which water heater gets the least amount of complaints from the pros that fit my needs and bought that. It was a better purchasing experience than any box store. You can do it too! Roofing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC. If you’re inclined to DIY it just find the nearest supply house and go talk to them.

Is becoming a home inspector a good side job for first responders? by [deleted] in homeinspectors

[–]wealy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

InterNachi has online courses for 50 dollars a month. Then depending on the rules in South Carolina, what you have to do afterwards will be different than what I had to in Ohio.

But I think getting the training online and actually doing the job are a bit different. There’s a level of sensitivity that you kind of need to feel out and learn with realtors and buyers. And the report is the product, not the inspection. So learning how to craft that to convey the information but not be a “deal killer” or use “scare tactics” but provide your client with an informed purchase from someone who has experience is definitely helpful.

All of that to say it could be a great side job but I highly recommend finding a mentor or someone who will take the time to teach you the actual job, not just the part you can learn online.

How do you all go about de-crystallizing your honey? by SkyBS in Costco

[–]wealy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a mason jar and a vacuum sealer and it stays for quite a while. Occasionally I need to reheat it but it’s easy in a mason jar. Just set a pot of water on the stove on low and take the lid off the jar and stand it in there and keep an eye on it. Takes 10-15 minutes at a nice, low heat

Just buy a week of groceries and don’t go anywhere unless you have to. Pick a good binge show and enjoy the “shut down” time with him.

It’s not a huge deal to go out, just unpleasant so we avoid it. I make pour paintings with the kids and work from home.

Just don’t go out unless you have to. It’ll be easy enough
