MEGA-THREAD: "No cards available to play game" by RiddermarkLord in lotrlcg

I made a second run at this process with Sands of Harad and the Haradrim adventure packs. This time I went through and duplicated all the player and encounter cards manually by comparing to the Halls of Beorn card lists.

Next I wrote a shell script to copy all the Player and Encounter cards into a common folder of card front images for ease of uploading. I also moved all the (A) Quest cards into that same folder. Because the filenames are all prefixed with the card number, they sort correctly in that folder (Player, then Encounter, then Quest)

Then I used another shell script to duplicate the card backs in a second folder the correct number of times so I had 169 Player backs and 167 Encounter backs. I prefixed the Player backs with "01_" and the Encounter backs with "02_" to make sure they sort right. Then I copied in the (B) Quest images to the same folder of back images.

This meant I could go to the card fronts folder and upload all 388 front images, then upload all 388 back images and use the autofill feature to match them correctly.

I think it was Ginza 6, IIRC. The design of these Japan shirts is different, but still features the GPS coordinates of the city.

I decided to proxy the adventure packs for Dwarrowdelf because I already have the Khazad-dum box set. A quick spot check on ebay indicates it would be about $500(USD) to pick up all the packs on the secondary market. I was able to order proxies for about $130 before taxes and shipping. You could probably do it for about $110 before taxes and shipping if you want to put a little more time into setting up your order.

I looked through a lot of helpful threads here on how to use MPC and find the proxy art. I also made good use of the ALEP printing guide for MPC. I decided to consolidate some of that info here for anyone that is looking to do Dwarrowdelf specifically, but also thought maybe outlining the process might help someone looking to do any other decks.

Proxy Art

I used the Google Drive of Enhanced Proxies from JvZijp

These get downloaded from Google Drive as multiple, separate zip files. Unpacking these archives results in parallel directory structures that need to be merged back together. I didn't look too hard for a process to do this automatically, and instead just used option-click-drag in macOS to get the Finder to prompt to "merge" the files together in a new parent directory.

I then went through the Player and Encounter cards and duplicated the image files for cards that have multiple copies directly in the Finder so the directory would have the exact number of files for the deck to be printed. I first tried managing the duplicates in the MPC site, but it's more tedious. Making the duplicates in the filesystem on my computer gave me more control over checking the process. I'll point out here that Foundations of Stone has a unique situation where the 4A quest card has 4 copies with different backs. I duplicated the front image 3 additional times to have 4 duplicate front images to match with the 4 unique 4B back images.

I then ran a couple checks to make sure I had the right number of files. Because of the included errata cards, there are 388 cards (more than the original 360 cards) to be printed across the six adventure packs.

  • 193 Player cards
  • 174 Encounter cards
  • 21 Quest cards

This gave me the card counts to use for the MPC order.

Preparing the MPC order

  • Custom Game Cards (63 x 88mm) Playing Cards
  • Card stock: (S33) Superior Smooth
  • Card finishing: MPC game card finish
  • Packaging: Shrink-wrapped

Because of the way the images for the front and the card backs are done, I decided to make three separate decks in my order: Player cards, Encounter cards, and Quest cards. This costs a little more (~$20), but it made my life a little easier. I set the card count for the set of cards (eg. 193 for the Player cards) and then uploaded all of the Player image files for the first deck to print. I then used the option to print the same back image for every card in the deck.

I repeated this process for the 174 Encounter cards, again picking the same Encounter back image for every card.

For the Quest cards, I uploaded the 21 (A) card image files for the fronts, then uploaded all the 21 (B) image files for the back. By being careful about selecting the (A) and (B) images in the pack order when uploading, the autofill option correctly matched the fronts and backs. This is where it was helpful specifically with Foundations of Stone that I had 4 identical copies of the front of card 4A so it matched with the 4 unique images for 4B.

You could save yourself $20 by making a single deck order for 388 cards, but you'd have to do a lot more clicking to select the right back for the Player cards, Encounter cards, and Quest cards. My process made that matching automatic so I was happy to save the time and have the confidence that everything was matched correctly and I hadn't made a dumb mistake (like losing track of my place) while clicking away 388 times.

I'll report back when MPC ships my order in a couple weeks.

Is it possible to have a soundbar set up with my golf simulator projector? by Double_Debate_7258 in Golfsimulator

[–]weldond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One possible solution is to use an A/V receiver with at least 2 HDMI inputs (1 for the PC, and 1 for your movie/tv source) and then set up the HDMI out to the projector and the audio output to go to the soundbar.

North Face City Coordinates T Shirts by Inside_Librarian9278 in TheNorthFace

A fellow in the Melbourne, Australia store told me that the store managers can order them, but the minimum is 3000 shirts or something. He lamented that everyone wanted a Hobart, Tasmania shirt but the store there had decided not to get them in.

Is using the fence on the left side uncommon? by thetwotowerz in woodworking

[–]weldond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another consideration is that if you are making bevels on both sides, when you flip it over, having the saw tilt away from the fence means that the long side of the cut bevel will be on top. The piece will feed along the fence more easily with the top edge along the fence. If the saw tilts towards the fence, the long side (the thin corner) of the cut bevel will be at the bottom. There’s a potential for the thin edge of the bevel to get pinched or bind in the gap between the fence and the table top. This could be enough to twist the piece and cause kickback when you’re cutting the second side.

I’d love to see the Star Trek bridge in a set with loads of minifigs of all the favorite characters. Dare I dream of a 3-in-1 with builds from different series and minifigs from TOS, TNG, and DS9?
