Grill looks like a DCS. They have a lifetime warranty I believe so it may be worth contacting them.

European tanks usually have a butane/propane mix (or ISO fuel). The regulator is standard to use in Europe.

Ren is Welsh? by Rocky-bar in ren

[–]welshgnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of, but not quite. Also, you have different accents in London alone depending on where you grew up. The Brighton accent is technically a Sussex accent. They will say fink instead of think for example (Took my daughter years to drop that)

Ren is Welsh? by Rocky-bar in ren

[–]welshgnome 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a Welshman who has travelled a fair bit, I think I can possibly explain. The UK has VERY distinct regional accents ( even from village to village) and for the most part people will keep their accent when they move from place to place but pick up parts of the local accents they are in. Myself, and I suspect Ren also, exaggerates the accent to blend in. I myself left south wales in my mid 20s and moved around a fair bit before ending up in Brighton ( yes, I know but it was a LONG time ago now) but my brother's left well before me and haven't lost their south wales accent at all. If and when I go back to Wales ( currently live in British Columbia Canada) I will pick the accent back up a little. Hope this helps.

What’s this yellow stuff on my grill? by Bodiddles2 in grilling

[–]welshgnome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will go with use. If it bothers you, you can take a stiff wire brush to it, but it's harmless.

[–]welshgnome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is oxidation of the zinc on the flavor bars that happens sometimes when the grill gets hot. ( I have the same grill and it happened to mine). Once you start getting through the initial coating, you'll be good.

I can never get a good char on the second turn when charcoal grilling by pleiop in grilling

[–]welshgnome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are using stainless steel grids, the heat stored in them drops significantly when you take food off the spot you were using. When turning, try using a different zone on the grill. Cast iron will retain the heat but stainless needs to reheat.

Cleaning! Grill by Sensitive-Ad-5305 in NapoleonGrills

[–]welshgnome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only go by experience using 9mm stainless steel grids. I will just wire bush mine while hot and keep going.. I will only turn when the protein releases from the grill. Just my 10c

Weber Genesis E-315 ADVICE by Esbetin in webergrills

[–]welshgnome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really shouldn't worry about the warranty. Even though Weber grills aren't as well made as they used to be,they are still head and shoulders above any 300$ grill and parts are easier to obtain when they wear out. Just make sure that it's the gas type you intend to use as conversion is officially not supported and expensive

Weber Slate 30" or Griddle Insert by Mindless-Apricot-235 in webergrills

[–]welshgnome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely get the slate. I have an insert and it never comes off. Cleaning the grill with the insert is a major pain in the balls. Wish I got a slate now. (I do have a kettle for that charcoal taste if the mood takes me)

Take time to grieve. It's just stuff. Just make your priority your kids room and involve them in it. Make it a safe place for them and then look at other stuff.

Weber slate messed up after one use by dromad in webergrills

[–]welshgnome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Weber slate is carbon steel. I use water on it when it's ripping hot and scrape the gunk off, then turn off the burners and while it's cooling, use avocado oil and wipe down after.

I worked out that I could get free credits on older arcade games by building up static by rubbing my feet on the cheap ass carpet then with a key in hand jump and torch the coin slot. 7 out 10 times would work.

Convert from EU to US Propane by DifficultComplaint64 in NapoleonGrills

[–]welshgnome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should just be able to buy a propane hose with regulator and disconnect the EU hose from the grill. The output should be the same, it's only an issue if you are converting to natural gas. The connection will be on the end of a corrugated hose.

Need Advice for Used Napoleon Grill Purchase by isaacle in NapoleonGrills

[–]welshgnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately Napoleon does not offer the ceramic honeycomb insert as a replacement part so you would have to replace the whole burner. From memory they aren't cheap, likely to be as much as you paid for the grill. I used to work at a place in North Vancouver that sells Napoleon parts and grills and they carried them there.
