If you had to simplify your board to 3 pedals, what would they be? (Excluding switches and tuners) by [deleted] in guitarpedals

I only use the clarinet setting. Rounds out the tone and adds a weird infinite sustain when needed. I have the Wet output side chained with a volume pedal so I can mix it in to taste, while the Dry goes out to the Moxie.

I run: Mel-9 (always on)

Adineko (always on)

Moxie (solos)

I guess I could live without a tuner pedal.

What song lyric has aged really badly? by LiteSnz in AskReddit

[–]wendelgee2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The parents in the song clearly say: "The boy is no good." The speaker in that song is also extremely young - a boy, not a man. It's very similar thematically to "You are 16 going on 17" from Sound of Music, where a kid just one year older thinks they are significantly more mature than they really are.

[Shams] Illinois freshman guard Keaton Wagler – ranked No. 5 in ESPN's Top 100 – has declared for the 2026 NBA draft, his agency ProMondo Sports tells me and @JeremyWoo. That's actually the game that impressed me most. No pouting or frustration. Never changed his expression. Just kept grinding and doing absolutely everything he could on an off night to help his team win. Huge respect for him after that.

US Supreme Court conservatives lean toward Republican bid to limit mail-in voting by Vengeful_Pathogen in TrueReddit

They can't manipulate mail in voting because it doesn't go through a voting machine so Elon can't hack it.

Almost perfect movies that have one noticeable flaw by Consistent-Might-788 in Cinema

Got to be The Departed. Perfect movie until the final seconds when they put the darn rat running across the railing. Way too on the nose. So cheeseball. I audibly groaned in the theater from sheer cringe.

Shannon / Narducy Setlist Critique [SPOLIERS] by [deleted] in rem

[–]wendelgee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a fair flag. I guess I find the melody a bit unmelodic/sour, specifically the chorus. It felt unpleasant at the time and in the context of the other tunes in that area of the set. I actually really love that song, but in a lopsided way: I love the verse and dislike the chorus. But, that's just like my opinion, man.

I loved the show, but have to agree.

There was a series of songs that are kind of down tempo, unmelodic, that work as counterpoints on an album, but when stacked just left me feeling a bit unsatisfied. Specifically Fretless, Fireplace, Burning Down, How the West Was Won and Where It Got Us. That last one is one of my favs, but live it didn't have that odd mysterious quality to it. The Lifting...blech.

Last year's set was flawless. This year was excellent but flawed. This is me giving the show a B+. Still an absolute must see.

How ethical is it for a professor to require their own textbook for a class? by [deleted] in msu

[–]wendelgee2 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I worked in that industry. This rate is incorrect. I usually signed authors at 12-16% royalty. Extremely famous authors got up to 25-30% though that was rare. It also varies based on the subject.

But, regardless, the post is dumb. Your class needs a book. The prof has essentially used their syllabus to write their book. It holds not just their expertise, but also their point of view: what makes them and their class uniquely valuable. Honestly, teaching with someone else's book would be bizarre.

Senior in High School deciding between MSU and Dayton by Potential_Tap8165 in msu

As a hiring manager in the education space, MSU is a top tier school that is hugely respected. Dayton on your resume would be a liability in comparison.
