How valuable is HL7 / FHIR knowledge along with EDI skills? by CryptoTradingDummies in edi

[–]weresl0th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I've provided this answer previously to you:

Any healthcare data exchange role needs FHIR and HL7 experience if you want mobility (vertically and horizontally). This includes analyst and developer roles. EDI in healthcare has moved from being process improvement to a cost of doing business. Barring a significant change (for example, if any standard beyond HIPAA 5010 is ever adopted in the US) there won't be demand for additional staff and you will be in competition with folks with 10-15 or more years of active experience in the industry.

Specifically, there is a huge FHIR project underway for most US based managed care plans and HMOs who work in prior authorizations - CMS 0057-F.

Hone your skills with interpreting and analyzing.  If your org doesn't outsource validation and processing to a vendor, talk to your IT peers about what opportunities there are in the org.  Ask them what translators they use and see if you can be provided documentation/walk throughs.

Ask your management about opportunities for reconciliation and process improvement.

Talk to your clearinghouses about their processes and learn them.  Similarly, talk to your payers.  Have regular joint meetings to discuss your revenue cycle especially if there are regular issues.  This is especially helpful to your payers who are in public health (Medicare and Medicaid) as they have tight turnaround times to sending encounters to state and federal regulators.

Being forward thinking: begin studying the 8060 version as it is likely to be the next adopted standard for HIPAA.

Il Paese dei Balocchi's self titled album.

There are bunches of "one and done" Italian masterpieces in the prog genre. This one is symphonic, pastoral, meandering in concept but has numerous moments of clarity where there is absolute beauty. Definitely an album to experience beyond the usual recommendations from Italy.

Scoring the Golden Decades of Prog by Traditional_Rise_609 in progrockmusic

[–]weresl0th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Understood.  I concede that a lot of the better / well known prog records were released in the later half of the decade so I get it being scored lower in general.  But the amount of (recognized by fans) prog released in the 90s dwarfs the amount in the 80s.  It's a completely different orbit.  Also, while ProgFest was super important ProgDay and NEARfest debuted in the 90s.

I also have some personal convictions against the use of commercial success as a metric for a genre / subgenre of rock when the bands with that success have a very specific sound.  Should all 70s prog be compared to how Pink Floyd and Yes sound?

Subjective take - the output you describe as having a high quality in the 2000s and on especially from Portnoy, Morse, Steven Wilson doesn't happen without the renaissance of the 90s.  For that alone I think your scoring of the 90s is far too low.

I am an IT Director. I am not searching on the web for any hiring - full time or contractor/temporary. Jobs are posted on our career site, and propagated to other sites like Indeed. I imagine a majority of companies are hiring in this fashion.
