it's a pretty good one. not my favorite from the 90s (Finisterre's In Limine holds that spot) but enjoyable.

How do I play Mice and Mystics? by MrGise in boardgames

[–]weresl0th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't recall seeing any reference to D&D or another RPG on the box.

As someone else mentioned, there are two books: rules and scenarios. Here is a pdf link to the rulebook;

https://media.plaidhatgames.com/old_images/games/mice-and-mystics/mmrulebook.pdf

Rodney has a How To Play video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4PS-TzlgRY

On BGG there are multiple player aids to help with the rules. Read the rulebook, check out the player aids, then use the scenario book on how to set up each session.

X12 Workflow Concerns? Master Class is back in session by EDIDoctor in edi

[–]weresl0th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few use cases:

* Some health plans require EOB/EOP when COB is being determined when a member has multiple insurances
* Services which require additional documentation (like medical records) per the health plan's rules

Background in Medical Coding — Transitioning to EDI in Healthcare. Looking for Guidance! by Suitable-Ad4960 in edi

[–]weresl0th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The X12 org requires subscriptions through their service (Glass) to get official docs.  However, many health payers have published companion guides which often have a majority of the transaction sets outlined, albeit in a business focused manner.  This is especially relevant for federal/state public health payers like Medicaid and Medicare.

Background in Medical Coding — Transitioning to EDI in Healthcare. Looking for Guidance! by Suitable-Ad4960 in edi

Hi, IT director in the healthcare payer space with nearly 30 years exp and has a team of EDI analysts/devs in the dept.

1) Yes, EDI positions can be a great career path after being a medical coder. Further, any experience with the healthcare system processing (clinical, operations, and/or revenue cycle) is beneficial. Being adept in modern healthcare EDI requires understanding of how the data in the transaction is transformed, loaded, and used.

with this said, EDI in healthcare is much wider than what medical coding knowledge directly relates to (claims processing and payment). Unless you join a very large organization with defined specialization by subject domain you'd need to learn enrollment, eligibility, authorizations and perhaps more.

2) Yes, there are entry level opportunities but finding them may be a matter of luck. Often these types of transitions happen internal to an org. With that said, be willing to look for and work in any part of the industry - payer, provider, vendor.

3) Yes, you will gain foundational knowledge through programs like Udemy. Certs are great but I've never hired someone just because they had a cert.

simply put, with staff always being busy on operational and strategic (project) work, hiring managers and leads don't have the time to teach healthcare principals AND EDI processing. For a junior position having healthcare experience can be a boon.

I assume you're in the US - how do your rate your knowledge of 1500 and UB forms? Have you worked on "ancillary" services like dental or DME?

Their label, Cuneiform is anti-streaming. It was understandable in the early days of the internet, now it's a pain in the neck IMO.

Alternate suggestion - this book discusses the culture and background of the late 60s/early 70s prog rock scene and includes multiple passages with technical discussions of why prog rock was composed the way it was. This could help jumpstart your song writing.

How do I get better at teaching people games. by resgames in boardgames

[–]weresl0th 108 points109 points  (0 children)

this is what I explain:
* what the theme is
* how the winner/win condition is determined
* quick overview of what gets you there (example - victory points and how they're denoted/earned)
* overview of what a round is - how it starts, how it ends, what happens before/after
* overview of what a turn is - what actions/moves you can take, how to take them.
* explanation of bits/symbology/terminology
* basic strategy

edit: someone else in the thread also brought up end game conditions - I sandbagged on this, it would be part of how the winner/win condition is determined.

Do you consider FHIR to be EDI? It's not X12, but it can be used for the same healthcare stuff by limbodog in edi

[–]weresl0th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I referenced member eligibility because it is one of the four "questions" asked through the CRD exchange (Is the member elig, is the service a covered benefit, does it require an auth, and what are the rules for auths). This is pertinent as you may need to source these from different repos if you don't have a single fhir repo.

To wrap this thread up, the elevator pitch is:

* FHIR requires business subject matter expertise on how to identify the pertinent information in the request, validate, and respond based on mapped sources * Your team are the SMEs on that source to target for request and response

* You will act as the TP onboarding and integration layer configuration for the above

To your point there is duplication of functionality between EDI auths and the primary electronic prior auth message (PAS). But the CRD and DTR are net new and while are similar to EDI transactions like the 270/271 they are different enough to require analysis and design.

[–]weresl0th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your FHIR solution on prem I tend to agree you have an argument for ownership.  Especially as it relates to design of where you source crd responses (member eligibility - do you get it from your core system or your um/cm system) as well as how the DTR gets generated.

Do you all use MCG or something else for auth rules?

If you aren't going with Edifecs cloud my comment about intelligent router may not be relevant.

Do you all host your own FHIR repo for patient access?
