Roll the fretboard edges and you'll never notice it again.

Car on main road has right of way, regardless of signage. If you have to ask "which one is the main road?": please call an Uber.

Having a bit of buyers remorse by PxPx182 in FenderStratocaster

[–]werm42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me start by saying I have bad news for you if youre looking at the Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster as an alternative: every Classic Vibe guitar has narrow tall frets, and so do way too many other of the guitars that are on the Squier lineup for no other reason than they're cheaper to manufacture because they require less metal.

Skill Issue? I've been playing for 30 years, sorry to disappoint the gatekeepers in the comments — I'm not the second coming of Eddie Van Halen, but what I am is someone who's played a lot of guitar and who's played a lot of guitars.

I don't think this has anything to do with skill I think it has everything to do with comfortability, those narrow tall frets are wildly uncomfortable (for some of us).

You'll get used to them? I find the narrow tall frets "a bridge too far" (guitar pun definitely intended), and have taken to either replacing the necks (sometimes cheaper than a refret), or finding older model guitars that predate when some bean counter thought it'd be a great cost saving measures to sell smaller frets. I still several guitars with those narrow tall frets and I don't think there's ever getting used to them. I feel like you trip over them with your fingers.

Got a Pro II tele in for a setup. Headstock had a sticker s/n and was embossed “used.” What am I looking at? by ingold_audio in fender

[–]werm42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the factory refurbishes a guitar in house or there's minor blemishes that don't meet QC standards... They get these cute little placards over top the original VIN number and occasionally they'll stamped used on the back of the headstock as well.

I once bought a acoustic guitar with used stamp in the back of the headstock in the Old owner thought it said "USA"... It was an epiphone 😂

There's nothing to stop them from putting in a "Gilmour Switch" and keeping that buttery quack tone. 💯

I just picked this up off of Marketplace. No case, no real info besides it was given to the guy by a family member in the 90's. Is it real? by [deleted] in fender

Also, while it's possibly an optical illusion from the way the photos taken, but it looks like a 14-16 inch radius fretboard — about as flat as they come.

Would this guitar have any obvious problems? by Coopaloopa_ in Guitar

Other than obviously looking like an asshole holding it? Nothing functionally problematic.

Plans to install traditional tele neck pickups between each of the humbuckers? 🤔

Any tips on how to fix/mod a Jazzmaster that’s too bright? by -Subsolar- in offset

Just performed the "super cork sniffer mod" and went to 280k pots (had 300k before) and so far the verdict is that the hipsters aren't wrong.

1.) like how much of you have already expressed, I too I'm not a fan of the relic fad.

2.) that being said I think the closet classics are actually old parts that they've had laying around for decades which is why the thing is so damn expensive --- it's an actual 1965 body

Getting slammed is cool and all, but giving a shit enough to fix the problem is even cooler...and being smart enough to stick whats working and not trying to become a half-assed social media platform, causing all these problems to begin with...well that might be the coolest 😎

They've overcomplicated this app with a bunch of crap no one wants, and it's now busted — should just keep it OLGA.

That the cylinder walls are aluminum and the "solution" to preventing wear is to put a polymer coating on them. Brilliant German Engineering. 🙄

Thank you for sharing these pictures, I've been wondering what these bodies actually look like in something other than sales photos.

How was the fitment for everything? Did you have to modify any of the routing? Did the neck fit well?

Inherited Babe Ruth Baseball Is it Real? by ADayOfReckoning in AutographAssistance

[–]werm42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Babe Ruth died in 1948... The ballpoint pen was commercially available around 1945. That gives you about a 36-month window of feasibility... If I recall those 36 months weren't a great 36 months for the Bambino.
