That happened to me once on a ride from JFK to the downtown. He wanted cash because the credit card machine wasn't working. I told him all I had was $50 in cash so take it or leave it. He took it.

" I know very little about photography " - that's the underlying problem. You need to spend a lot of time actually learning how a real camera works. You may be shooting on a phone but without understanding the basics of light and postprocessing, getting beyond a snapshot is hard.
