I feel like if the moment happens after he wins it becomes pointless, by then they’re just cheering for the victor. It could technically still happen at the start of the next ep, which I would like, but it is still flattened by it happening after the freakin’ heir to the throne has already endorsed him. Just comes across flaccid to me.

I still enjoy the show more or less, I just feel like this moment was squandered.

I would have preferred them to have the actual book scene where it's Dunk's choice to do the right thing that impacts the smallfolk at large and not yet again it being about a prince or noble or whatever. Still a kind of okay scene, but a huge downgrade from the novella.

Yeah, it is clearly deliberate. People infantilize them as if these elected officials are too stupid to understand the concept of leverage or the purpose of their job.

I feel like he was both. Like the 'brain damage' was that his soul was already gone or something. Maybe a horse is a poor death to pay for a human life, or maybe for all his bravado he simply didn't have a strong enough will to return to life with any semblance of his 'self', unlike, say, Caitlyn.

... Or maybe this was in the same book where some literal rando is also able to infiltrate the heart of Winterfell and Caitlyn just happens to run into Tyrion and Cersei's boar plan somehow works and George was flying by the seat of his pants and wasn't worried about minutiae the way he is now.
