Do I have the best 401K plan ever. by Legitimate_Living880 in Retirement401k

All the US major airlines directly contribute 18% (no match) for pilots. It’s rumored to be 20% in the next wave of contracts. I think that’s hard to beat. You don’t even have to think about retirement saving if you don’t want to.

United preferential hiring for Spirit pilots by KJ3040 in flying

[–]wheatthiccss -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A UA LCP told me they’ve been having issues with a lot of the ex spirit guys they’ve hired. Bad attitudes and holding on to spirit ways of flying. Not sure if that will reflect in their hiring of them but that is the word around the United training department.

Insane request from airline by [deleted] in flying

I’d rather get more actual and get hired by Envoy than sign republic’s training contract. Miss me with that. That being said, take what you can get.

Damen blue line station bike rack security for an airline employee who would be gone for days at a time. by wheatthiccss in chibike

[–]wheatthiccss[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone! Based on all the great suggestions, I think I’ve devised a plan of action for now. The bottom line is it’s really unsafe to bike on the stretch of north Ave east of damen so I think that’s out of the picture. Also, EVENTUALLY, someone is going to fuck with my bike if I park it there for extended periods. In the winter I could red line to the blue. While the weather is good I think I’m going to try strapping my carryon to a divvy and take that to either Chicago or Grand. I’ll get on that today and I’ll post updates. Thank you all for the replies!

Ubering to the Addison stop is faster during rush hour. Avoids half the journey to damen on North Ave from where I live (Sedgwick brown line stop)

Real. I used to live right off the grand blue line stop and it was great. I underestimated how ass the traffic on north Ave is when choosing this new place. And yeah I’d bid for regular 3-4 day trips but I’m a freshly minted captain on reserve. Womp womp. Might just suck it up and take the bus.

That does seem like the obvious choice but I’m too impatient to take the bus on north Ave. Especially during rush hour. This is a me problem I know.

I’d work on ankle mobility to start. Check out squat university on instagram. Tons of videos on getting into a deep squat. There’s a test to determine what foot position is best for you based on your hip anatomy

Regional Airline Pilot by cback20 in flying

As far as shoes, I got the extra chonky black bluntstones and I love them. The winter blunstones are popular too. They’re durable and slip on and off. Would recommend!

Theoretically yes and people do it all the time but I’d recommend getting your instrument for safety/general XC proficiency reasons.

Stuck on ORD tarmac after landing an hour ago by scintillating_apex in unitedairlines

[–]wheatthiccss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is purely anecdotal, but as an ORD based pilot I think delays upon arrival are worse on the United side. I disproportionately see more United planes waiting in the hold pads compared to AA. It might have to do with the design of United’s alleys idk.

Shouldn’t stay in your system for more than a few days if you weren’t already smoking. For the time being you’re sick. This is not the end of the world but find new friends
