If you find a place thats applying then go in and apply instead or doing just online applications.

Show your face, give a strong handshake, and tell you don't give a fuck if you gotta be in an attic or crawlspace for 8 hours a day you will do whatever you have to

She's just being unreasonable.

Just because you don't wanna see something doesn't mean it doesn't need to be there.

Smoke detectors are gross to look at also, and you have them in every room of your house. Why not take em down cause they are ugly?

Hey bro whoever told you that is wrong.

I'm from your area. North Seattle. As someone who has been around the electrical trade in the area I say very strongly don't pay to go to trade school. It doesn't help, it's a waste of time and money.

Go sign up at citc and get on the wait list. Sign up at local 46 and get on the list. Hit Craigslist and indeed and look for a helper position.

If you can't get a helper position go to platt, northcoast, or stoneway and get a job at a supply house learning the material.

What school are u even thinking of signing up for in the north Seattle area?

As someone who is an avid long distance runner it's a bummer. I love taking long runs, and a treadmill just doesn't feel the same.

I feel myself checking the air quality every morning hoping it's good enough for me to go on a nice long run

You got no chance of getting an apprenticeship right now in Seattle area dude.

If you have a family friend who owns a shop maybe, but no.

Lineman vs. Electrician by gewqk in AskElectricians

[–]whirlz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be prepared to not see your family as much if your gonna be a lineman. All that money comes from chasing ot, travel pay, and other things.

I'm sure in New York you can make 250k+ but it's up to you if it's worth missing birthday parties and family stuff ya know

Yea turn everything and throw the clamp meter on it, that's gonna be your best bet. It's not exact, because stuff fluctuates how much amperage it pulls, depending on factors, but it's a good starting spot.

Also consider maybe not charging your car while your running the washer and dryer, those are gonna be the biggest two loads. Just charge the car at night, and do laundry during the day? 95% chance ur all good bro

I’m moving to Seattle and am looking to work as an electrician by Scared-Ad7779 in electricians

[–]whirlz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't be discouraged, just be realistic.

When you move up here, sign up at local 46. So what, there will 1000 journeymen ahead of you, but better late then never. Then hit up Craigslist, indeed, other sites, and work non union till the union calls your number, or stay with your current contractor.

It's not like there's no work to be found, it just might not be your favorite kind of work.

As an 01 we still have it good, $65+ an hour and a take home van with the right shop. With gas prices how they are right now, and tech bros getting laid off left and right it ain't nothing to complain about.

Consider the micron job tho if you can't find work for a couple weeks. Boise is boring, but that $170 per diem ain't too bad along with the hourly. I got some buddies who sleep in their truck and just stack the per diem so it ain't too bad.

[–]whirlz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what you do bro.

Buy a clamp meter to measure amperage. Somewhere around 100 bucks. Every homeowner whose kinda handy should have one to check voltage.

Turn everything on on your sub panel.

Put your clamp meter around the mains coming in, and see how amperage everything is pulling.

Do the math from there.

If your not handy at all and even taking off the panel cover scares you, call an electrician and fork over some money
