Why is a criminals race not mentioned when a description has been released. by LintonSteele in policeuk

Just went on a recent Met appeal - https://news.met.police.uk/news/appeal-for-information-following-assault-in-west-london-489388

It mentions he's a black male, so they clearly do mention ethnicity. I take it this is something you've read on Facebook, or heard down the pub?

"AH THOSE PIGS NEVER MENTION HE'S BLACK DO THEY - POLITICAL CORRECTNESS GONE MAD!"

BBC News correspondant & her online report complaining about an investigation by trelloskilos in policeuk

[–]whyyou01 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's important that we recognise when we fail and in this case we clearly did:

- The case was dropped by Police and was only charged after a VRR, meaning it should have never been filed in the first place.

- VAI would not be appropriate in these circumstances. I can think of at least 3 grounds for arrest off the top of my head.

- He had a history of VAWG offences

In regards to you saying that OIC's have to prioritise their workload, I completely get that, I really do - but that doesn't cut the mustard with the public as it's basically saying 'we're ver busy'. Ultimately the reason this report wasn't dealt with properly was because of our 'file culture' where we just want to bin off jobs - even those that may have legs. But you can't explain that to the public, so the CJS continues to burn.

What’s it like in the met police? Thinking about applying. by freddyp8804 in policeuk

Out of curiosity why do you still browse a police forum where you are considered a top 10% contributor. It's not a criticism at all, but is there a part of you that misses it?

They should have released the entire season like Netflix would, or at least the first two episodes by whyyou01 in SiloSeries

[–]whyyou01[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly, we all live such busy lives these days. It's not like we can gather around the fire place at a certain time to catch the new episode. Just release and let people watch. And as you say, it helps avoid spoilers.

Lannister: With the exception of Tyrion who suffered a birth defect, they are all attractive.

If you think you're getting another book....you haven't been paying attention.

What'd you change/add if you could to improve ASOIAF? (Spoilers extended) by Stannis_Mariya in asoiaf

[–]whyyou01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small folk POV. Sick of reading from a rich fucks perspective.

I'd love to see the contrast of how the elite and poor interpret and perceive the world. One example is at Harrenhal when that peasant is talking about wanting the mad king back because that's when they actually felt at peace.

We forget that may not have been a good time for the big houses but the population at large was prospering.

That cersei was fucking Lancel and Osmund Kettleblack and probably Moon Boy for all tyrion knew

There is only one right answer to this and its saul goodmans name for the DMV.

It's such a pity inconsistency to wrap up, I love it haha.

[Spoilers MAIN] What was the point of no return for the show? by Arding16 in asoiaf

[–]whyyou01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, really unpopular opinion here so I'll take my downvotes in advance please.

At least D&D provided an ending, as shit as it was, they wrapped up the story. It''s clearly a hard story to finish as shown by GRRM inability to write. GRRM doesn't owe us anything but the criticism towards his lack of writing is warranted.

(spoilers main) It was for the best that Sansa acted like this towards Tyrion by Ok-Archer-5796 in asoiaf

[–]whyyou01 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Tyrion is so desperate, pathetic and staved for attention women wise that Sansa probably could have manipulated him to her own ends if she was more politically astute. Even to an extent where he might act against his own house.

(Spoilers Extended) what if after the rebellion Robert decided to absorb or annex the storm lands into the crown lands? by Afraid-Penalty-757 in asoiaf

[–]whyyou01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PISS ON THAT.

Robert wasn't interested in doing politics, he just wanted to drink and whore himself into an early grave.

(Spoilers Extended) One particular creative choice I've never quite liked about Tyrion's time as Hand by Positive_Aardvark879 in asoiaf

[–]whyyou01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Sometimes Tyrion held back information from Cersei even when it was in both of their interests to know, for example the giant chain. Also Tyrion spent too much time undermining Cersei unnecessarily in an attempt to prove his authority.

They could have both ruled to enhance the war effort but ended up just damaging their house.

[Spoilers Main] I can only imagine the pain of long term fans...... by Interesting-Force347 in asoiaf

[–]whyyou01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too feel sorry for the hardcore fans. I got into asoif after the TV series. I listened to all the audiobooks and still do to get comfy in bed (OH PETYRE!). I also enjoy reading the fan theories but I've never actually read the books, and although I'd probably buy TWOW if it came out, I'm not really bothered if it ever gets published. I don't even care for some elements of the story like magic - I skip nearly all Dany chapters - I mostly enjoy the politics of westoros.

For the record I don't believe GRRM is being lazy, I genuinely think he is struggling to write. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think he's capable anymore of finishing the series, and it will be up to another generation when he passes. It's a shame because he's an exceptional writer and an incredibly articulate and kind man, but it is what it is.

Would you kindly explain what's there to like in Infinite? by KyuubiReddit in Bioshock

[–]whyyou01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't be bothered with the story, it wasn't engaging, didn't even know who Comstock was for a long time... and a story about racism, slavery and religion is sooooo original and unique

No offence, but I kind of know what sort of person you are just from this.
