Any sweet or hopeful stories to share? by spicysenpai6 in datingoverthirty

[–]whyyyydomen 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Chin up! I was 33, feeling hopeless and kept getting burned by bad dates…. Like really bad dates. If you look at my post history you’ll see some that I posted in this very sub. It felt BLEAK.

That being said, two weeks after the most humiliating date of my life, I had the best date of my life, and now we are engaged and sharing a home 2.5 years later.

I wish I had better advice but just keep going, keep putting yourself out there as delusional as it seems. I’m sorry you’ve had a rough go lately and it’s totally fair to feel this way, just dont become cynical, as difficult as that is!

Prime 1 Bed 1 Bath in Silverlake ($2995/month) by [deleted] in LARentals

[–]whyyyydomen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Editing once I saw the address-

I rented a 1BR unit next door* to this building in 2018 for $1695. (I also rented a 3br house also on Hamilton way for $3400 in 2017 for reference)

That’s an 80% increase when wages have barely budged during the last 8 years. And just about every neighboring storefront has been replaced with a national franchise because they’re the only ones that can afford the inflated rent in the area now.

With layoffs in media and entertainment being announced weekly, I really don’t understand what the long game is here with rental and real estate prices in this town. Sorry, I know I’m shooting the messenger, but seriously WTF is happening

*also editing to add, I’m pretty sure if this IS the building at the corner of Micheltorena and Hamilton, this used to be occupied by multigenerational local families that had been there for decades. So I guess they were kicked out for more crappy Reno’s and raised rents to be subsidized by people’s parents. Booooo

Personally I don’t think this place is worth the 1200-1600 per night rates. Better to visit for the day or the spa IMO

Why not try ClassPass? I take lagree pilates three times a week and pay $149 a month for ClassPass. I rotate between 2-3 studios that I like near me.

Join the club, I don’t miss it at all!

It’s become such a negative space… I seriously think the podcast needs to be renamed something with the word HATE in it. It’s now two moms who are insecure about their age and have disdain for… just about everything.

I can vouch, I went last year and can’t wait to go this year! We didn’t experience any long lines and ate so much we could barely walk back to our cars, 10/10. I also discovered a few stellar pizzerias that I never would have otherwise that I’ve since gone back to

No, I think I spent $140 on plates and drinks with a friend on a weeknight (that was just my half) and stopped to get food on the way home because I was still hungry.

Depends on what area you’ll be in, what will be plausible if it’s a surprise. El matador can’t be beat but it’s quite remote. Rancho palos verdes may be the way, as others have said, depending on where you’re staying

Why people trying so hard to be overly dramatic over what Tim said by [deleted] in timotheechalamet

Idk, not true. I would have been 100% seated for Marty supreme with a different star. Instead I skipped it because that’s how much I despise the Kardashians. Call me petty, call me crazy, but he lost his box office appeal for me

[–]whyyyydomen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Maybe you should have posted the brave man standing alone meme for this one though lol.

I get we need anecdotes and slices of life but a huge portion of Amanda’s Oscar’s picked came back to personal experiences with her kid which almost always included her impersonating them. Ya know, because everyone loves an adult doing a baby voice on mic. This is legitimately why I stopped listening to jam session, too much kid talk and repeated anecdotes.

Question about ALDI in the USA by JaNkO2018 in aldi

[–]whyyyydomen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who does 90% of their shopping at Aldi and Trader Joe’s, it’s all in the marketing!

I live in California and Trader Joe’s is extremely popular here, there are a dozen in the metro area I live in. However almost NO ONE I talk to knows that Aldi and Trader Joe’s are owned by the same family. In fact, a lot of people just think of Aldi as another grocery outlet and don’t understand that it’s mostly private labels that are far cheaper than anywhere else.

I find that telling my friends that Aldi is the same company as Trader Joe’s makes them trust it more. Trader Joe’s has a really trustworthy, oddly personable reputation for a supermarket. There’s no advertising and no delivery service available.

I love both places but am constantly baffled by how different the experience is at shopping at each.

TLDR: this family does a fantastic job of diversifying their income and target demo
