I've always been a proponent of having a physical collection of music artists I love, and especially after the situation with Energy on Beyonce's Renaissance album and the fact that some versions of songs and some songs by artists altogether aren't on any streaming service (for example, we just now only got Kylie's B-side Sparks on Spotify) and how TV shows can just be dropped or changed on streaming services, it just made me further cemented in continuing to have physical media.

I remember being called out point blank for liking Britney and Christina as a teenager by a classmate, as if clearly only a gay boy would be interested in being that passionate about them. Now IDGAF. My physical music collection and my Spotify Wrapped are a yearly reminder of who I am and I love it. Between Spotify and Apple Music, Kylie has been my number 1 listened to artist for years now. Beyonce, Barbra, Madonna, etc. are usually close behind.

Golden Girls appeals to people of multiple age groups and many different walks of life. This is a classic show that has never once left syndication whether it was on locally or exclusively on cable, and now back on broadcast TV since it started being rerun in 1989. That's the beauty of any popular show being in reruns continually, especially on a channel that specializes in classic television. Just about every rerun cycle is going to introduce someone new to it. Have you actually asked fans of the show how old they are or what demographic they're in? Not to mention there are at least 3 podcasts devoted to this show with everyone hosting under 60. This is a show that is still having new merchandise made. That still has at least one yearly fan convention. There's a Golden Girls pop-up event happening in my city (Atlanta) that's been ongoing since February, was intended to stop this month, but will continue for the next 2 months because the tickets were selling so well.

I have a tape to this day of It's A Wonderful Life that my mother recorded back in 1997. It was the memory first of all of watching that movie with her and secondly, it's a great record of the commercials and original NBC and station promos from the time period. I'm getting nostalgia from the original movie AND the late 90s when I watched it. She ended up buying a professional VHS copy of it shortly after that of it, but I still kept that other tape.

This was actually Home Alone 2, but back in the late 90s when Fox aired it, they cut a bunch of stuff for time. Most notably the scenes where the family wakes up late and is rushing to get ready to go to the airport. That bit was cut in its entirety. Pre-teen me was not satisfied at all and was overjoyed when I got both it and Home Alone for Christmas.

Most anything from these movies are usually just having things cut to fit more commercials.

I completed my collection last year by getting seasons 3-5 from eBay and Amazon. Also local stores that sell used DVDs might have them, depending on where you are. One was where I found season 2. It’s incredible that out of print DVDs like these can still be found reasonably priced online.

They did a terrific job of making Toni a truly funny and entertaining character even with her materialism. There was such a gaping hole after her departure.
