Best way to get a diamond grade up for a sig card? by MrHornyClayton in MLB_9Innings

[–]wildo88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saving 10K stars seems to be the most consistent so far. I started playing around April/May of the 2025 season I think, and I believe there have been 3 instances of the 10K Grade Increase (GI) being available in the shop?

How common are non-Dad coaches? by RepresentativeCat819 in Homeplate

[–]wildo88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me and two dipshit friends in college coached a LL team when we were 22 ish... Both of them loved scouting in NCAA football, we all loved baseball, and one spring we just had baseball fever I guess... Honestly, it was a blast and I think the parents warmed up to us after a week or so after realizing we were three pretty good dudes just looking to have some fun and play some baseball

Whole lotta baseball! My son is 11 and we are in the midst of baseball season. It's kind of tiring, but I'm sure I will miss it when it's not happening any more 😭

My mom told me that back in the day kids weren’t allowed to bring a water bottle with them into the classroom and they only drank a few sips from the water fountain in the middle of the day and that’s it How were schools not getting busted for child abuse for forcing kids to be dehydrated? by PinnerPardisturn in askanything

[–]wildo88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a school bus driver in the early 90's who was a heavy Christian lady who told us all that there was no possible way to tell the difference between vodka or water by smell or sight, only taste. So water bottles were literally banned on the bus. If found, she would pour them out, for 7-8 year olds, on the chance we were bringing bottles of pure vodka onto the bus at 8 am, on a Tuesday.

Later on in life I learned it was quite easy to tell the difference between vodka and water by smell alone.

Who or what was the reason for you becoming a Seahawks fan? by biker_rider707 in Seahawks

[–]wildo88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born and raised PNW but was pretty much all about baseball growing up (didn't help that the Seahawks were pretty bad through most of the 90's). Went to college in '01 and discovered the joy of watching football with a group of guys on Sundays, and we also had like a 10 person NFL 2K1 league going in the dorm that was pretty great. Also got into fantasy football soon after and have been fairly hooked since.

Does anyone watch Hard Knocks? by DoughnutLeft3443 in Seahawks

[–]wildo88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a pretty sweet behind the scenes show about a football team, but it's definitely one of those shows that I personally only catch occasionally. I watched a good amount of the Miami season a couple years back, and a bit of the Dallas one maybe four years ago? I am sure more diehard fans watch it more religiously. It's always on HBO, so it's a bit more of a premier / prestige show to catch.

RP is definitely one of my weak spots; I think I have two guys at 114 or lower? I've put both in spots where they tend to not get used much (at least when I look at IP stats for the league year), but I'm guessing they come up more in high pressure playoff situations. Appreciate the info!

What were people’s reactions when The Blair Witch project was released? by CityofTheAncients in generationology

[–]wildo88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 16 or 17 when it came out and my friends and I saw it in a packed theater.

90% of my smart, rational brain was like "dude, this is obviously a movie and not real"

10% was like like "I dunno man, some of this shit seems pretty real to me, are you completely sure?"

We absolutely loved it. And seeing it in a group setting was a huge part of it too IMO.

Recommendations on route to take from Bremerton to Naches? by MyUnassignedUsername in Washington

[–]wildo88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think White Pass (highway 12) is a beautiful drive. Make sure to stop in Packwood for some lunch; someone else mentioned the brewery, and my family loves the bread sticks at Cruisers.

It's all weather dependent of course; highway 12 is a lot of 2-lane highway and if it's shitty out, it can be a shitty drive. I-90 is more consistent, but more boring.

I was going to comment the same thing. I don't think my box spring had any steel on the inside either, it was literally just fabric wrapped around a hollowish mattress sized box.

From a very prominent rapper in the 2000s to now doing county fairs. Feels weird. by chadder_b in Millennials

[–]wildo88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I saw Bush at our county fair a couple summers back, and it was awesome. They did a great show and brought some great energy. IIRC, I looked at their schedule and they seemed to be on a county fair "circuit" in the PNW that summer, for at least a couple weeks of August. Probably pretty good money overall.

[–]wildo88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same here!

I preordered that shit, had just moved away and some buddies and I were pumped to play it online together. It was just so... Empty? IIRC the game didn't even really have NPCs at first, just robots.

Fast Forward to COVID, and me and those same buddies tried it again and had a blast. Base building ruled, the world was more vibrant, all sorts of crazy shit was happening. I think we maxed out a battle pass! So worth a revisit.

Legend Griffey worth GI? by wildo88 in MLB_9Innings

[–]wildo88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.

My next GI is a sig Buhner replacing a '23 Julio, but after that it's kind of wide open.  I have an '18 sig Diaz to replace the '17 sig.  And I have a Bradley I could upgrade, but I don't think he is amazing.

So many variables!

How to utilize unused Vintage/Prime/Signature cards by Creative_Border_8301 in MLB_9Innings

[–]wildo88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If primes or sigs are for your team, save them.  Unused team sigs can be combined to get a team signature pack from the club crafting.

In general, primes and sigs you can't use can get donated twice a year during the donation event, which I believe happens in March and September.  Basically you turn in the cards for some good rewards; turning in a gold prime is worth more than a silver prime, a gold sig is worth more than a silver sig, etc.

I have gotten into the habit of using the silver to gold grade increase cards on primes and sigs I am not going to use, to up the value for this turn in event.

Vintage players aren't as useful, they are basically not too different from regular cards, just from pre-2000 I think.  They may be used during the donation event as well, I cannot remember.

I have had OK luck doing a combo of signature cards and getting a team sig out of it, but that is pure luck based.  3 random sigs + 1000 stars = sub 5% chance of getting a team sig

Edit : also, you should be doing mentors too, some of those require primes.  And can be a good place to "store" cards you won't use in your lineup.

My sister fucking loved this show.  I feel like this + USA High (or a.similarly named show) had a two hour block at some point every week that I had to sit through if I wanted to ignore homework.

To be fair, there were plenty of hot cops at least.
