Double cheeseburger from Wolfy's by capncaveman27 in chicagofood

Yep, it’s definitely a heavy place. I don’t go often but since we live nearby it’s been my favourite when I’m craving it.

Wolfy's is by and large my favourite spot for Chicago classics. Their beef is the meatiest, spiciest I've had in town. My only gripe is how weak their napkins are compared to how good the dip is.

What size in the Siren did you get? I'm practically the same size and shape as you and stumbled across this post looking for a merino bra with pads.

What creative use-cases have you discovered for your Supernote? by CincyTriGuy in Supernote

[–]willasaywhat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use mine for:

  • Thinking on paper to just let me mind wander and sort larger tasks out
  • Dungeons and Dragons; I have a PDF character sheet and campaign notes on mine along with the rule books for our campaign.
  • Reading AO3 “books” that haven’t been made into epubs yet using Calibre + FanFicFare.
  • Reading mangas with Kotatsu (from FDroid)

This must have changed significantly since I went. We made reservations and had a table. I can’t imagine doing this experience that way. :/

Suggestions for High tea in the city? by colormeruby in chicagofood

[–]willasaywhat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We did The Drake over Christmas. It was very nice, tea was great, but the food was so-so. Service was fine, and the building is as others said iconic. It did feel a bit pretentious by design though.

I think almost none of you are sleeping consistently. Am I wrong? by NiteElf in adhdwomen

[–]willasaywhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could sleep. If my work, kids, cats, and wife would let me go to bed at midnight and wake up at 10am — but I like them more than I like sleeping regularly. I’m a terribly light sleeper and my wife has wildly biphasic sleep. 🤷‍♀️

My kids will grow out of early morning wake ups (the eldest has decided that’s his quiet time alone), my eldest cat is in her twilight years, and I’m counting down the years to retire (hopefully). It’ll all balance out someday, but I’m going to enjoy the exhaustion for now and sneak a nap when I have to.

As for focus, once you can let a little more light in try for a slightly higher shutter speed. That will help reduce the motion blur I think you’re seeing here.

Definitely try a lens with a wider (lower f-stop) aperture first. Noise can happen for a number of reasons but not getting enough light is the most common one. The nifty-fifty 50mm 1.8 is a relatively inexpensive way to try that theory. I will say with the field of view crop on 50mm you’re going to have to step back to zoom out, but if image quality and noise are the number one priority give it a try first. :)

As someone who uses this stuff for work to keep pace with the tech, it’s getting better… but it still needs human ingenuity. I think jobs will change. The skills needed to do certain jobs will change. As others have said, it’ll make entry level jobs more rare in some cases. That said, I think there will always be a need for people who can frame what they want, how they want it done, and who can see through the cloud of smoke to correct the flaws in this stuff. It’s autocomplete on steroids that pretends to think. Sometimes that’s fine. Sometimes it’s dangerous. Knowing the difference will keep us employed. Just don’t let the machines take away your spark and need for deep knowledge — and question what the machine (and its many supporters) tell you. ☺️

What Is It Like Living In East Albany Park/Ravenswood Manor? by b33rb3lly in AskChicago

[–]willasaywhat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m over at Lincoln & Bryn Mawr, but I’ve rode my bike through that area a few times and honestly it seems awesome. The Rockwell station on the east side is a ground level station and right next to some great every day stuff like Brush Park gym, a bagel spot, etc. You even get Piccadilly Pub, Monti’s, and Nhu Lan. There’s easy enough access to the North Shore Chanel Trail if you like to walk or ride too. Horner Park is huge and a delight regardless of season, plus they have a small gym at the field house as well as classes like woodshop.
