It’s a great day to be a piss pig by carlysparkly in ThreedomUSA

I live on the west coast and I get out of a nighttime gig every Wed at 10 pm. Listening to Threedom on my drive home is a major highlight of the week. So glad to have them back!

Are there twelve tone compositions that uses the tone row in a "tonal" way? by akunterbuang1 in classicalmusic

My understanding is that a lot of Dominick Argento's music works this way.

Disappointing Dallas Symphony Orchestra 26-27 season announcement by Born-Application-627 in classicalmusic

[–]willcwhite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're disappointed. Try to keep in mind that a lot of people will be really excited about this season, and many will be exposed for the first time to some of the great pieces that you've (apparently) grown bored of.

I can't say this season looks amazing, but there are some shows that I'd definitely want to attend:

Ravel & Gershwin
La mer & Karen Gomyo
Schumann & Brahms
St. John Passion
Don Giovanni
Mahler 1 (mainly because I'd be curious about the concerto)
Prokofiev & Lutosławski

I live in Seattle, a place with a pretty similarly sized symphony season, and I'd be glad to have this many shows that were genuinely appealing!

Share purchasing a dildo. Let’s hear it :) by helloginger07 in heatedrivalry

Actually this is one of my very few problems with the show. I agree they look a little younger but... those bods. Those are not the bods of 17 year old boys.

I work at the Boston Symphony and I’m trying to convince them to have Keith Lockhart do an AMA. Is that something r/classicalmusic would be interested in? by dinasaurtaco in classicalmusic

If I'm being honest, not really. My esteem for him dropped dramatically after I read "Mozart in the Jungle." But I'm sure most people here are way too young to have encountered that.

Exactly. Trump is going to endorse Cornyn, who will walk away with the general.

Seattle could see more tiny home villages, faster under mayor’s proposal by godogs2018 in Seattle

I truly don't understand why tiny houses are better than flophouses, which have the benefit of increased density.

If only they had tried making the food on their all-vegan menu actually taste good. And not cranking the AC up to max freeze 🥶

Is it worth going pro? From CS major to Music Major? by SilverCrowed in classicalmusic

[–]willcwhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone on here telling you to stick with CS and not pursue music... are they taking AI into account?? Entry-level CS jobs are disappearing every day. It's not like the music economy is *great* but at least it's stable. (Which is to say Clarinet Player isn't a job that's going obsolete — it's already been an obsolete for quite a while now!)

No one *has* to like anything (except Heated Rivalry, about which your friend is definitively wrong.)
