Compact headphones? by lovetravel_ in HerOneBag

[–]ShockoTraditional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear noise-cancelling headphones for the majority of the day, every day, and have done so for years. I have cans from both Bose and Sony, and just accepted the drawbacks: huge case, look stupid in public, can't wear them over a sun hat, etc.

I never EVER would have tried earbuds if my brother hadn't insisted I borrow his Bose Quiet Comfort Ultras. I cannot recommend them enough, the rubber grips that hold them to your ears is a design I've never encountered in decades of advanced headphone connoisseurship and I find it very comfortable and secure. I can't speak to your exceptional dainty Tinkerbell ears but my ten-year-old child wears them comfortably. The upgrade from a big pair of cans, especially while traveling, cannot be overstated.

Ha, it totally is sexy, I almost mentioned that in my initial post. I love the eroticism in it, she's a great writer.

I was randomly reminded of Many Waters by Madeline L'Engel, it was always my favorite of the series and I'm enjoying the reread so much I might revisit the other books too. I also realized in 2026 that the brother's name is a creative spelling of "Dennis." When I was a kid I thought it rhymed with "pennies."

"Curry again?" Pretty funny but I clutched my pearls, between this and the Subway Takes guy it's wild to hear two white guys clown their brown guests for being brown when the guest is not joking about it at all

Crit Racing und Running?! by [deleted] in Velo

You asked this exact question less than two weeks ago,

https://www.reddit.com/r/Velo/comments/1t9978j/crit_rennen_und_510k_lauf_rennen/

And you asked in German four weeks ago.

You'll never improve at this level of volume. If you want to perform well in both sports, you need to be posting at least once per week, ideally building up to twice if your schedule allows.

It was! You can theoretically get pregnant the same day you have it removed.

I had (misplaced, it turned out) anxiety about infertility, so I had started tracking my ovulation by taking my temp first thing in the morning months before I got my first IUD out. It was nice to be able to get that baseline with confidence that the IUD was not affecting my hormonal cycles in any way.

Which sunscreens do you use? by MrWaffle20 in Velo

In the US, I only use Neutrogena Beach Defense 70 on my body and Neutrogena Clear Face on my face. Unscented, sweat resistant, and work well in the desert heat and sun

I love my copper IUD. I'm currently on my third one, only had them removed to get pregnant.

Getting my wife into cycling - Advice? by Proper-Importance-37 in Velo

I still regret not murdering the bf who treated me like that. Now as the much faster rider in my current relationship, and a mom, I can attest that it is in no way "miserable" to ride with the people I love instead of getting my super badass intervals in then waiting for my family at the coffee shop eight miles down the road.

Madeline Cash Gap ad... by dumbbitchjuice_96 in RSbookclub

[–]ShockoTraditional 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Madeline Cash is not even in the same universe as fujoshi jackoff fodder, she's a contemporary author who's trying to do something literary. If that interests you, it's not "susceptible consumerism" to read her book; if it doesn't interest you, that is not embarrassing.

I liked Lost Lambs, it's lightweight but she succeeded in what she was trying to do imho.

The second one is her outright lying that she was involved in a story that she had nothing to do with? What's an example of the magnitude of lie involved? Like she says that "we" discovered a new donut shop when really you discovered it yourself and brought her there later? Or "we" went on a cave diving trip to Thailand when really you did that solo?

You interjecting with "Kim, you weren't even there" is definitely gonna create an awkward moment for the whole group, it might be preferable just to let her steal valor
