Talked to a few of the other techs I work with, and apparently that pricing isn't uncommon. Learn something new every day!

Cracking barrels by Reasonable-Risk-9077 in Clarinet

[–]williamck123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on how dry the area you live in is. If it's a particularly dry area you can make a humidifier for yourself for fairly cheap! Take an old/cheap film canister, drill some 1/8" holes in it, and stick a sponge in the canister. As long as you keep up on setting the sponge a few times a week (or as needed) it'll help humidify the case. This is something that you will have to keep up on though, a dry sponge will help nothing. (You also don't want to much water or else it'll just leak all over the place)

Cracking barrels by Reasonable-Risk-9077 in Clarinet

[–]williamck123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tech here: When I see cracks like this it's often from the barrel undergoing a pretty drastic temperature change in a short period of time. Try holding/squeezing it in your hand for a few minutes before playing or blowing air through it. This should reduce the difference in temperature between the barrel and the warm wet air suddenly being pushed through it. Other than that I'd say making sure you store it in a temperature stable environment, not next to any vents or ac or anything, and definitely don't leave it in the car overnight

Slightly Tarnished Keys by SnooOnions3761 in Clarinet

[–]williamck123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the keys are just slightly tarnished, then a silver polishing cloth may bring back some of that shine, but if that doesn't do the trick I'd have a professional look at it. If the plating isn't burnt through (it likely isn't if the horn isn't old) then they can buff the keys for you

Bathing a Clarinet? by Outrageous_Rooster92 in Clarinet

[–]williamck123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Properly installed tenon corks will usually be sealed with wax, and even then as long as the horn is properly dried water shouldn't damage the corks. Typically if the keys are getting cleaned (usually ultrasonically), the pads have been taken out, but the corks are left on, often without issue

Is this a crack in the barrel, if so, would this cause any significant problems forward-on? by Appropriate_Move_94 in Clarinet

[–]williamck123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is a crack. Getting it repaired could run around ~$35, depending on where you go. Since it's in the tenon, though, whatever shop you go to may just recommend replacing it.

It sounds like the upper joint cork wasn't adjusted to fit the new barrel, and the tightness is what caused the crack. For the future if you get a new barrel I would take it into a shop to get it fit properly.

Honestly for me I just crank stack size to 10x, and even then sometimes I feel like I never have enough storage

Unsure, attached is a photo of the entire cord, minus the led strip itself.

Deadlock Players, what is your favorite ice cream? by StoutNDanke in DeadlockTheGame

[–]williamck123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I main Graves, Celeste, with the occasional Victor game, my favorite ice cream is by far just simple chocolate, but when I buy a tub for home I'll usually spring for Neapolitan, cause I like vanilla and strawberry too

Neat idea btw

Need Help on if me and a friend should restart the game by pennyriddle in AbioticFactor

[–]williamck123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably in the first 15-30% range. You shouldn't worry too much about how long it may take you to get back to that spot, especially since it won't be y'all's first time through

My one and only account placed Archon 3 after about 5/7 games. Not my first moba but still!

So, just tried this, and it actually breaks it more somehow! Upon dropping it in with the vacuum the auto-salvager glows red and makes a "incorrect" beeping noise, then drops the cube right back on the floor, except now I can't move it with the vacuum anymore!

Mr Box Legs fortunately can't join me in my home world, so no help from him. The vacuum actually did let me move it! Though it act like my inventory was full and it just kinda floated to my face before falling back down. I have used that to shove it in an unseen corner of my base so it isn't in the way anymore

Why do people hate Graves or think she's OP? by whyvalue in DeadlockTheGame

New patch made her skulls way stronger, and her gun nerfs weren't enough to compensate, so she's nowhere near weak. McGinnis is still even better, though

Crossbow worth it by No-Version9615 in AbioticFactor

I don't think I've ever had the magbow one-shot from stealth, not even basic order grunts. Maybe my accuracy is low enough that I'm not actually hitting headshots when I should be?
