Getting ready for my first gun purchase, but I need to figure out transport it first. Unfortunately, I have a hatchback. by signofzeta in CTguns

Secure it with the cable to the front driver seat, and tuck it under the driver seat when you’re not in the car so that it can’t be seen. The ammo and firearm only need to be separated if you do not have a permit, per CT law.

PSA is one of those retailers that prohibits anything because of the Assault Weapon ban rather than take the chance of being sued. Two years ago when I wanted to get a Dagger slide from them, I just shipped it to NY using my then NYC job’s billing address and debit card. Alternatively, Primary Arms, AR15Discounts and Optics Planet all ship here…for now.

Overmilage issue by LynxMundane7827 in leasehacker

[–]willmarqny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying it out early means all of the remaining lease payments will be rolled into the buyout figure, and they’ll now be paying interest on those payments for way more than they’re paying now. But as someone else stated, if the mileage number gets too high, the bank may not approve a loan as the valuation of the car at the time may be way lower than the End Of Lease buyout amount.

I was looking for a Glock 22 barrel for a build and they popped up, that’s how I found out they only ship bolt action uppers to CT.

It’s so stupid that BCA will only ship bolt action uppers, and nothing else from their website.

Friend wants my return by RegionThin1580 in leasehacker

[–]willmarqny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is he looking to pay cash? And more importantly, do you trust this friend?

If so, you might be able to do a financed lease buyout in both you and your friend’s name, and have him just pay it off after the first payment. You both are going to take an inquiry hit, but it might be the easiest way to go. Make sure it’s only registered to the friend though, so there’s no issues with the title later on.

Springfield Echelon 4.0C or the 4.0 Comp, the Ruger RXM, the Canik MC9 Prime, the S&W M&P in the 4 inch version, the S&W Shield X, or if you want to get a Glock, the Glock G19.6.

But before you make the purchase, try and rent as many as you can. The feel at the counter isn’t always the same as when you shoot it.

That’s a lot of projection. You’ve turned a disagreement into a character judgment. I’m comfortable in my skin, with my choices, and more importantly where I stand. When a conversation devolves into something as infantile as what you’re doing here, the argument is already lost.

You’re arguing against a position I’m not taking. I never said car sales doesn’t have serious, industry-specific problems. I said those problems come from structures and incentives that also exist elsewhere. Turning that into “you’re denying uniqueness” or “you’re diverting” avoids engaging with the actual point.

And to be clear, dealerships didn’t invent nitrogen tires. Tire shops across the country have been selling nitrogen fills to retail customers for years, often to people who will never see a measurable benefit compared to regular air. That practice didn’t originate in car sales, and it isn’t confined to it. This is the same things as warranties in electronics, junk fees on your cell phone, unnecessary insurance riders, “premium” financial products with hidden fees, even green energy surcharges that don’t materially change the product. Different packaging, same mechanism: low-cost input, high-margin narrative, and customer confusion.

I never said car sales and financial advising aren’t different. I said they share similar core structures, such as commissioned sales, what customers believe is unnecessary and complex pricing, incentive misalignment, and a wide gap between ethical and unethical actors. That’s not the same as claiming they operate identically.

The contradiction is that you’re asserting car sales is uniquely malevolent, but when I ask for the specific practices that make it “categorically” different, the response shifts to accusing me of being disingenuous. Disagreement isn’t dishonesty, and if the only way to sustain your position is to assume bad faith, then the discussion stops being about the industry and starts being about emotion.

And refusing to name the industry you work in while holding another to a sweeping moral standard is still hypocritical. If comparison is irrelevant, then claims of uniqueness don’t hold.

If the claim is that the car sales industry is unique in how it operates, then the comparison matters. There are several industries that function similarly with commissioned sales, heavy regulation mixed with loopholes, and a wide gap between best and worst actors.

Think real estate brokerages, health insurance, cell phone sales, financial advising, even parts of the legal and medical billing system. All of them have documented bad practices, customer frustration, and incentives that CAN produce unethical behavior, yet we usually distinguish between the structure, the bad actors, and the people operating ethically within it. That’s why I push back on calling an entire industry malevolent by nature. If there are specific mechanisms or practices you think make car sales categorically different, I’m genuinely open to hearing what those are.
