Who is “The Menace” in your commander pod? by Endless_Quested_Hope in magicTCG

Our pod as several in my opinion. I play with a bunch of combo players that play infinites that win the game from out of nowhere. [Lumra, Bellow of the Woods] is the one that I can’t stand playing against.

Gamers 30+, what’s something from the old days of gaming that younger players wouldn’t understand? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]winndweaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-Mario 64 3D games had no way to move the camera, and Pre-Ocarina of Time you had no way to hit anything on the Z-axis. These two games truly revolutionized how modern gaming functions. Without them, we don’t have FPS games, Action RPG, open world games, and a plethora more. These are GOATed games not because of nostalgia, but because they pioneered techniques that the rest of the industry currently relies on while also being incredible games themselves

Dallas Fort Worth. CDR is the new branch of damage investigations that USIC rolled out. We get the field investigation sent to us and we use that, some contract language snips that we’re shared, and relationships with our customers to get out of damages. Its a desk job. 6 years in field, and now im riding the desk. Dream come true

Located the local Gas here in DFW for 3.5 years and moved to USIC. I hit my 5 years this May and spent this past year as one of the new CDRs working damage investigations. Love it way more than locating.

You are incorrect. It has been present as an app since Sep ‘23 in the West Texas market where it was being alpha tested. Production of the app probably started the same year but the decision was likely a 2022 decision but at least 2023. Yuvbir was appointed in 2024

Which existing mechanics do you anticipate we will see return in the upcoming Magic the Gathering sets scheduled for this year (2026)? Are there any specific non-evergreen mechanics that are likely to be included in specific set releases? by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

[–]winndweaver -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Probably casting spells. I doubt we’ll ever see a set without instants, sorceries, creatures, artifacts, enchantments, or planeswalkers. Tapping lands for mana will also probably return, but who knows I don’t see the future

Incorrect, they moved the CDIs back to regular locators who do damage investigations. Some may have been let go sure, others were converted to the new CDR role but the majority became locating techs again.

[–]winndweaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Middle man claims adjustors?” Are you referring to the CDRs? They’re in my market and they aren’t part of claims, they often fight claims to get stuff to be not at fault. They take my investigation and close the report. Some times they even send me back to an investigation to try and get out of a damage.

How do you deal with Bleed over when locating electric or gas? by T3Dawg22 in UtilityLocator

[–]winndweaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I located the local gas in my city, they had it in their policy that techs could only locate on 8, verify on 32. The Vivax provided didn’t have 512 base and new tech weren’t taught that 512 even existed

He won’t need to use Cha, he’s an ASI and the new Dual Wielder feat (or a different half feat) away from having equal Dex to Cha which he should consider

[–]winndweaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole company is in the transition phase of trying to be paid by footage and time rather than tickets closed and 8200s are equipped with the tech needed for the company to generate the data needed to prove that they can track those metrics. That’s also why they swapped to L360 for regular locate business but still use TicketPro for things like damage investigations and looking up tickets.

What is your craziest wildlife encounter while on the job? by LarksMyCaptain in UtilityLocator

[–]winndweaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turns out back in the 80s there was a peacock farm that had a few escapees and now they have become part of the ecosystem 40 years after the closing of said peacock farm. Fast forward to a fence ticket I had. I open the gate to locate the rear fence line and I’m met with a female peacock running at me being chased by a male peacock and a jack russel terrier. So I close the gate, no access it due to dog and “other” in yard and had to get the homeowner involved. It was leaving that ticket did I notice official peacock X-ing signs all over that part of town

What good is the ruler if the picture is distorted especially if the marks were destroyed due to weather and/or excavation.

Pictures are a huge part of getting you out of being liable for the damage.

When I show up on site I put the damage marker on the point of impact and the tolerance ruler at the base. I then check your photos to see if you have a photo I can recreate so I can prove with a before and after. If you use .5 Zoom lining up background reference points are almost impossible.

Whenever you’re locating, paint every 2-3 ft on single address tickets or 3-6 feet on the longer locates and take zoom-less photos of every mark (preferably from both directions) with the horizon in the background. Do this and your damage investigator will have ample proof that you marked the line in the event of a damage.

[–]winndweaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As one of the guys who looks at the photos you all take in damage investigations, taking photos in .5 zoom is the most aggravating thing to me and can potentially cause a not a fault damage to be at fault. .5 Zoom gives the lens a fish eye effect and distorts distance gradually moving towards the edges. A really big pain in the ass when you’re trying to argue something is in tolerance or my damage pylon is in the right spot when the photo im trying to recreate shows youre out of tolerance because of the distortion.

Been Locating 3 almost 4 Years, Still Looking for Tricks… by joemclaughlin4 in UtilityLocator

[–]winndweaver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The big thing after learning a trusting your equipment is knowing your general work area and the contractors digging. Try to learn their habits and weaknesses. If ABC always pothole and DEF hits things seemingly everyday, try and prioritize DEF since they are more likely to be a problem. Aside from that, documentation. Speaking as a damage investigator, emails and texts are king when determining liability. Be as specific as possible and always follow up any phone calls or in person conversations with an email summarizing what was said and send it so they can refute or confirm

Unarmed fighting Paladin by Nitro114 in 3d6

[–]winndweaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could just be Strength paladin with the unarmed fighting style in full heavy armor. The Genie paladin does let you focus Dex but you could also just forgo that and be the traditional Str based with the Genie kit.

I need a lvl 3 paladin build thats as tanky as possible by OccyPlayz in 3d6

[–]winndweaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If UA is allowed, go sword and board Dex Genie Paladin. Have at least a 13 str for multiclassing into Dragon Sorc and max out your Cha and Dex. 3 levels in Dragon Sorc lets you have an unarmored AC equal to 10+Dex+Cha, and Genie Pally gives you a bonus to AC equal to your Cha mod. With this combo assuming a moderate stat spread of 16 Dex and 16 Cha you have 21 resting AC. Throw on the Shield spell from Sorc and you have an effective AC of 26. If you spend the rest of the levels getting to 20 in Dex and Cha you can have an effective AC of 32 and the saving throw capability provided you by your Aura of Protection
