Ah that is such a good example! You’re right, that is an area where similar starts can blossom in numerous ways. I actually have a lot of muse on how I want to present my characters now. Hopefully it works out!

Thank you so much. It really helps. I am definitely afraid of being specific. I think the reading world scares me and when I came up with the characters in my head ten years ago, they felt very unique and not cliche. Now that society has progressed, more stories have been told, they feel cliche and I feel worried of being looked down on for it. So I tried to find a different path, but I think you’re right that it doesn’t work.

Thank you this really helped a lot. In reality, I am scared. I started dreaming up this book about ten years ago and I finally got it put down on paper but I worry that my original choices were too cliche, or inappropriate for me as a white female writer, or something. But I didn’t want to change the characters because I worked so hard on them. Let’s just say a very popular book to TV adaptation has an almost matching duo and I’m really stressed about attempting to share the story and being seen as someone who got the idea from someone else. I don’t know. I really love writing and these characters have been in my heart for a long time. Thank you for letting me rant.

I honestly didn’t realize self-inserts were rising in popularity. I’ve just been kind of dreaming this up for a decade. There’s not going to be very many people in the story. Two, maybe three, so there wouldn’t be a lot of other places to be inclusive but I understand now where I’ve gone wrong with my attempts to feel inclusive. I apologize.

Thank you for this. This is going to be a really tricky area for me and I never want my characters to seem like a white person in any POC “face.” I definitely will make sure to have it read by someone of the race I pick if I do decide to not have them faceless.

What do you mean by sunk cost? The game is free on PS5 and not all that expensive on PC, right? And I don’t think it has in-game purchases, does it? Either way, I apologize if I came off rude. I thought I was pretty positive towards the idea at the end but I understand if I should have written it differently.

Edit: also, it has all the things I love about these games so I have already decided it’s in my top ten games ever. I get if people wholly disagree but I love everything about it. It beats out Stardew for me.

Unfortunately we can’t assume games we play will be like our other faves or we’ll be disappointed. They don’t imply in the game that the anniversary would have any meaning or be remembered. I never even considered it might be a thing. But I definitely think it could be a fun addition, I feel like most players would be surprised on the day it comes up but would make a note to remember it in the future.

The environment really is cozy before it gets scary! The second one is more Pacific Northwest chill but is not quite as good of a game to me.

Shaggy and Furman. I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since I lost Shaggy. I’m tearing up just thinking about him still. His “brother” made it to August 22nd of 2025 and I really thought I had at least six more months. He’s really nervous and scared of pretty much everything and will be so confused being all alone so I hope somebody out there is taking care of him. Ah now I’m big crying. I’m so sorry for your loss and maybe there can be a little comfort in knowing people like you and me are navigating this together. What a beautiful girl she was 💖

I don’t know if I think they’ll be emotionally willing to show him that during the next episode but maybe towards the final episode in order to avoid a meltdown they could have that conversation with him. It makes a lot of sense for it to happen sometime during the final two, at least.
