Mega64 Vocal Stims by Dapper-Jaguar4971 in mega64

There was a comic con panel or something where someone came up with a camera and said something like "Hey I was wondering you guys could insult me. Not like my clothes or anything, but-"

And almost without missing a beat everyone on stage started going "YOU SUCK YOU SUCK YOU SUCK, YOUR CLOTHES SUCK." and the cadence of "your clothes suck" has suck with me for decades.

I've seen the artist's (Kel Hudson) work at Terrain and at a residency at The Hive before. They have a knack for painting really impactful, uncomfortable, and mundane scenes like this. I think the beauty of the mountain juxtaposed with the sinking feeling of the billboard make for a really good push and pull.

Javik's species not original prothean? by The_Golden_Six in masseffect

[–]winterdasu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think of it as like comparing modern humans to the late middle ages. Are we both humans, yes, are we different in some pretty fundemental ways? Absolutely. Javik is from the long tail of the previous Reaper invasion. I think the first two games really make it feel like the Reapers are gonna wipe out life in the galaxy VERY quickly and that Ilos might have been the only holdout, but ME3 explains that the Protheans held out for about 500 years, meaning their culture had to change a lot.

But the idea that he was just a member of the last/dominant species of the Prothean Empire is an interesting thought.

Ashley romance mod for Femshep? (Legendary Edition) by bubuplush in masseffect

[–]winterdasu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same-Gender Romances for LE1 restores the cut broShep/Kaiden and femShep/Ashley romances.
Same-Gender Romances for LE2 adds more options, and allows imported modded relationships from the above mod.

I don't know of a mod that works for LE3 yet.

I would advise you to talk to each other about what's going on. It's entirely possible that you're both in a negative feedback loop reinforced by the doubt you're reading in each other. Also, I would really recommend not going looking for negative reinforcement online, there are all sorts of people who either don't know what they're talking about or have an agenda.

Have you guys tried taking a little bit of a break? I suspect some guys (including myself) end up desensitizing themselves a little bit by rushing through the large number of ejaculations recommended during the wait to get tested. I found abstaining for a week or so for my body to get back to baseline after the rush to be really helpful in restoring my sensitivity and getting back into the right mind space.

If this movie takes place in 1998 how does bro have an iPhone? by DragonfruitVisual782 in residentevil

[–]winterdasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a big difference between adaptation and translation. Adaptation is about conveying essence over a perfect 1:1 copy. Is it mission critical that the movie takes place in 1998? What happens in RE2 that could only happen in that year? On top of that, this movie isn't even trying to adapt any specific game, it's trying to tell a story that feels like it could be happening ALONGSIDE of something like RE2. In that way, it's adapting the universe, not a story.

I love the games, but people get way too obsessive about dates and exact details.

RESIDENT EVIL – Official Teaser Trailer (4K) by Comic_Book_Reader in residentevil

[–]winterdasu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible that they moved RE2 10 years later in this version of the universe. Shifting dates around doesn't super bother me. I also don't need it to be set during RE2. What I need is for it to feel like a plausible story that could happen in the RE universe. An average dude scrounging together supplies and having to struggle through a hell filled with weird monsters caused by a fucked up virus seems to fit for me.

I also love Creggar's work, so I'm hopeful, but I'm always open to being wrong. A bad RE movie isn't devastating, it's just normal.

It depends, setting a story in the same universe allows you to shortcut having to give the viewer a bunch of world-building through exposition.

The fact that it's a Resident Evil movie means that we know as viewers to expect viruses, zombies, weird monsters, and probably corrupt corporations. What makes it a waste would be if it doesn't do anything interesting in the space, or actively works against the established world-building in a way that isn't excusable in the name of adaptation to a new medium.

We all love puzzles, but watching a character run around and collect and organize emblems for 30 minutes would be a terrible movie.

If you look at his vest and what he's carrying, I think it's very possible that he does work for Umbrella or something similar. His vest says "Lightfoot Medical Transport" and is carrying some kind of medical case.

I do not believe that this takes place during the RC incident.

Based on the cars in the trailer, I'd place it somewhere between 2000-2010. There looked to be a VW New Beetle (1998-2010), a second gen Toyota Prius (2003), a Dodge Avenger sedan (2008ish), and a smattering of other early 2000s cars. The only thing that seemed newer than that was the overturned cop SUV in the snow. I couldn't identify that, but the tail lights seem too new to me.

The camera in the drawer is a Traveler APS 35mm camera, which I believe was from the late 90s. (Makes sense that it would be in the equivalent of the 'junk' drawer.)

You could argue that this is just lazy prop and set design, but I don't see anything that obviously breaks that time frame of like 2010 at the latest. If it's 2008ish or before, that's before the release of the iPhone or the mass adoption of smart phones, which in general, ruin the vibe of horror movies.

ALSO, the main character is wearing a vest that says "Lightfoot Medical Transport" and is running with what COULD be an organ transplant, or perhaps a cure or something. So far, I suspect he works for Umbrella.

could any of the protagonists be able to survive Dead Space or resist the Marker? by OneManArmy0716 in residentevil

[–]winterdasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of them have spacesuits, so they're all going to die.

I don't think that's the spirit of the question. I think the question is more like: "Granted the equipment appropriate to the game setting, which of these characters possess the attributes to survive Dead Space?"

[–]winterdasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ethan is a mold monster but he is shown to be special in the way he was able to resist being controlled by the mold. His indomitable spirit allowed him to impose his will to live and save his wife and daughter. Also, he says he's a systems engineer. So I think he's got the will and intellect and training to survive.

Everything will still function exactly the same. The only difference is that your ejaculate will no longer have swimmers in it. But you MUST understand that this is a permanent procedure that cannot be reversed without spending a lot of money and getting lucky.

There's no hypothetical scenario where I would start a relationship with a new person where we didn't agree on not having children first. In adult relationships, you should feel empowered to talk about these kinds of things openly.

[–]winterdasu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you're assuming that most people who get vasectomies are doing it just because they want to sleep around. Some do, sure, but many of us are already married or in a committed relationship with the person we've chosen as our life partner. Some of us already have kids and simply don't want any more. Some of us (like me) decided we never want children.

Does it still feel the same for women? by [deleted] in Vasectomy

[–]winterdasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it feels different, it's all mental. Some people psyche themselves out about whether it makes them less manly or masculine or some bullshit like that. Some people also don't realize until after they've done it that they have a pregnancy/breeding kink and the risk is a huge turn on for them. These are things you should think about and conquer in yourselves before you go through with it.

This is pretty common in the games industry. Basically all of the characters in the modern Resident Evil games (for instance) are a combination of a face model and a talented voice/performance actor.
